أعلن وزير الخزانة الأمريكي سكوت بيسنت أنه من الممكن أن يتم تمديد مهلة الرسوم على الصين بعد موعد 12 أغسطس. وقال خلال تصريحات له: «سنرى اتفاقات في اليومين القادمين».
وكان بيسنت قد أعلن في وقت سابق أنه من المقرر إعلان صفقات تجارية عدة خلال الساعات الـ48 القادمة. وأشار إلى أنه سيلتقي مع نظيره الصيني خلال الأسابيع القادمة. وأضاف أن الولايات المتحدة باتت قريبة من التوصل إلى اتفاقيات تجارية عدة. وأوضح في مقابلة مع شبكة CNN، أن إدارة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب ستقوم أيضاً بإرسال رسائل إلى نحو 100 دولة صغيرة لا تربطها بالولايات المتحدة علاقات تجارية كبيرة، لإبلاغها بأنها ستخضع لمعدلات التعريفة الجمركية المرتفعة التي تم فرضها في 2 أبريل، ثم تم تعليقها حتى 9 يوليو الجاري.
وأضاف بيسنت: «الرئيس ترمب سيرسل رسائل إلى بعض شركائنا التجاريين، يخبرهم فيها أنه إذا لم يتم إحراز تقدم، فسيتم في الأول من أغسطس إعادة تطبيق الرسوم الجمركية التي كانت سارية في 2 أبريل؛ لذا أعتقد أننا سنشهد الكثير من الاتفاقات خلال فترة قصيرة جداً».
وكان الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب قد هاجم مجموعة بريكس التي تضم 11 دولة، أبرزها البرازيل وروسيا والهند والصين، متوعداً بفرض رسوم جمركية إضافية بنسبة 10% على الدول التي تتبنى سياساتها.
وكتب ترمب على منصته «تروث سوشيال»: «أية دولة تصطف مع سياسات مجموعة بريكس المعادية لأمريكا سيتم فرض رسوم جمركية إضافية عليها بنسبة 10%. ولن تكون هناك استثناءات لهذه السياسة».
وأكد ترمب في منشور آخر، أنه سيبدأ بإرسال أول دفعة من الرسائل إلى دول عدة في أنحاء العالم لحضها إما للتوصل إلى اتفاق تجاري أو مواجهة فرض رسوم باهظة على سلعها.
وانتقد قادة دول مجموعة بريكس في قمتهم المنعقدة في ريو دي جانيرو الرسوم الجمركية التي فرضها الرئيس دونالد ترمب على شركاء بلاده التجاريين، كما نددوا بالضربات العسكرية الأخيرة على إيران.
وجاء في إعلان مشترك صادر عن القمة في يومها الأول: «نعرب عن قلقنا الشديد إزاء تزايد الإجراءات الجمركية وغير الجمركية المُشوّهة للتجارة».

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Pisent announced that it is possible to extend the deadline for tariffs on China beyond August 12. He stated in his remarks: “We will see agreements in the next two days.”
Pisent had previously announced that several trade deals are set to be announced within the next 48 hours. He indicated that he would meet with his Chinese counterpart in the coming weeks. He added that the United States is close to reaching several trade agreements. He clarified in an interview with CNN that President Donald Trump’s administration will also send messages to about 100 small countries that do not have significant trade relations with the United States, informing them that they will be subject to the high tariff rates imposed on April 2, which were then suspended until July 9.
Pisent added: “President Trump will send messages to some of our trading partners, informing them that if no progress is made, the tariffs that were in effect on April 2 will be reinstated on August 1; so I believe we will see a lot of agreements in a very short period.”
