أعلن كبير مفاوضي الرسوم الجمركية اليابانيين ريوسي أكازاوا، اليوم، أنه يعتزم زيارة واشنطن خلال الأيام القادمة لإجراء مزيد من المحادثات على المستوى الوزاري مع الولايات المتحدة.
وقال أكازاوا للصحفيين في مقاطعة أوساكا: «أعتزم مواصلة السعي بجد للتوصل إلى اتفاق مفيد لكل من اليابان والولايات المتحدة، مع الحفاظ على مصلحتنا الوطنية».
وزار كبير المفاوضين اليابانيين ريوسي أكازاوا واشنطن سبع مرات منذ أبريل الماضي للتفاوض مع مسؤولين كبار، من بينهم بيسنت، بغية إقناع إدارة ترمب بالتخلي عن خططها. غير أن هذه اللقاءات لم تُفْضِ إلى اتفاق، ما ترك الشركات والمستهلكين في اليابان في حالة من القلق والاستياء.
وتأمل طوكيو في التوصل إلى اتفاق بحلول الموعد النهائي في الأول من أغسطس، حتى تتجنب فرض الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب رسوماً جمركية بنسبة 25% على واردات بلاده من اليابان.
وزار أكازاوا أوساكا لاستضافة وفد أمريكي بقيادة وزير الخزانة سكوت بيسنت، الذي شارك في فعالية اليوم الوطني الأمريكي في معرض إكسبو الدولي 2025. وقال أكازاوا إنه لم يناقش الرسوم الجمركية مع بيسنت.
وأكد بيسنت أمس، أن اتفاقاً تجارياً مع اليابان ما زال «ممكناً»، في ختام اجتماع في طوكيو مع مسؤولين يابانيين رفيعي المستوى.
وبعد لقاء مع رئيس الوزراء الياباني شيغيرو إيشيبا وكبير المفاوضين في مسائل الرسوم الجمركية ريوسي أكازاوا، كتب بيسنت في منشور على «إكس» أن «اتفاقاً جيداً هو أهم من اتفاق مستعجل، وما زال التوصل إلى اتفاق تجاري يعود بالنفع على الطرفين بين الولايات المتحدة واليابان ممكناً». وأضاف: «أتطلع لمواصلة المناقشات الرسمية في المستقبل».
وهدد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بفرض رسوم جمركية بنسبة 25% على الواردات اليابانية اعتباراً من الأول من أغسطس القادم، فضلاً عن التعرفات الباهظة المطبقة أصلاً على السيارات والفولاذ والألمنيوم.

Japanese chief trade negotiator Ryoshi Akazawa announced today that he intends to visit Washington in the coming days for further ministerial-level talks with the United States.
Akazawa told reporters in Osaka, "I intend to continue to strive diligently to reach an agreement beneficial to both Japan and the United States while maintaining our national interests."
Since April, chief Japanese negotiator Ryoshi Akazawa has visited Washington seven times to negotiate with senior officials, including Bysent, in an effort to persuade the Trump administration to abandon its plans. However, these meetings have not led to an agreement, leaving companies and consumers in Japan in a state of concern and dissatisfaction.
Tokyo hopes to reach an agreement by the deadline of August 1 to avoid U.S. President Donald Trump's imposition of a 25% tariff on imports from Japan.
Akazawa visited Osaka to host an American delegation led by Treasury Secretary Scott Bysent, who participated in the American National Day event at the 2025 World Expo. Akazawa stated that he did not discuss tariffs with Bysent.
Bysent confirmed yesterday that a trade agreement with Japan is still "possible," following a meeting in Tokyo with senior Japanese officials.
After a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and chief tariff negotiator Ryoshi Akazawa, Bysent wrote in a post on "X" that "a good agreement is more important than a rushed one, and reaching a mutually beneficial trade agreement between the United States and Japan is still possible." He added, "I look forward to continuing formal discussions in the future."
