أوضح المدير العام لمؤسسة التمويل الدولية مختار ديوب -ذراع البنك الدولي لتمويل القطاع الخاص- أن الاقتصاد العالمي مر بفترة معقدة، إلا أنه رغم الاضطرابات فإن المؤسسة ترى اهتماماً كبيراً بالاستثمار في الدول الناشئة«.
وتؤكد النتائج ذلك، ففي السنة المالية المنتهية في 30 يونيو الماضي، تُظهر الأرقام الأولية أن مؤسسة التمويل الدولية صرفت أكثر من 71 مليار دولار، أي نحو ضعف المبلغ الذي صرفته قبل 3 سنوات فقط، وأكثر بكثير من 56 مليار دولار في العام الماضي. وتدفقت استثماراتها إلى بلدان حول العالم، مع أكثر من 20 مليار دولار في أمريكا اللاتينية، و17 مليار دولار في آسيا، و15.4 مليار دولار في أفريقيا.
ويتزايد دور مؤسسة التمويل الدولية داخل البنك الدولي باستمرار، إذ يكاد تمويلها يعادل تمويل البنك الدولي للحكومات حول العالم.
وتعمل المؤسسة على جذب أنواع جديدة من المستثمرين. ويأتي العديد من هؤلاء من مناطق في العالم لا تستثمر عادة خارج مناطقها الأصلية. جاء أحد أكبر استثمارات مؤسسة التمويل الدولية في مجال الطاقة المتجددة في أفريقيا من شركة مقرها دبي.
وبحسب ديوب، فإن هؤلاء المستثمرين يثقون في مؤسسة التمويل الدولية لمعرفتها بالسوق والأدوات التي تقدمها للحد من المخاطر. وفي أفريقيا، تعمل مؤسسة التمويل الدولية على تحديد ودعم «أبطال وطنيين»، أي شركات محلية تحتاج إلى المساعدة لكي تصبح أكثر قدرة على المنافسة.

The General Director of the International Finance Corporation, Mokhtar Diop - the World Bank's arm for private sector financing - stated that the global economy has gone through a complex period; however, despite the disruptions, the institution sees significant interest in investing in emerging countries.
The results confirm this, as in the fiscal year ending June 30, the preliminary figures show that the International Finance Corporation disbursed more than $71 billion, nearly double the amount it disbursed just three years ago, and much more than the $56 billion last year. Its investments flowed into countries around the world, with over $20 billion in Latin America, $17 billion in Asia, and $15.4 billion in Africa.
The role of the International Finance Corporation within the World Bank is continuously increasing, as its financing is almost equivalent to the World Bank's financing to governments around the world.
The institution is working to attract new types of investors. Many of these come from regions of the world that do not typically invest outside their home areas. One of the largest investments by the International Finance Corporation in the renewable energy sector in Africa came from a company based in Dubai.
According to Diop, these investors trust the International Finance Corporation for its market knowledge and the tools it provides to mitigate risks. In Africa, the International Finance Corporation is working to identify and support "national champions," meaning local companies that need assistance to become more competitive.
