أعلن المفوض التجاري للاتحاد الأوروبي ماروش شفتشوفيتش، اليوم، أنه أجرى اتصالا هاتفيا آخر مع وزير التجارة الأمريكي هوارد لوتنيك، مع استمرار جهود الجانبين من أجل التوصل لاتفاق بشأن الرسوم الجمركية.
وكتب شفتشوفيتش على موقع إكس:«اتصال آخر مع الوزير الأمريكي هوارد لوتنيك، استثمرنا وقتنا وجهدنا بالكامل، إذ لا يزال تقديم حلول مستقبلية على رأس أولويات الاتحاد الأوروبي. نبقى على اتصال دائم».
وقال شفتشوفيتش في وقت سابق من هذا الأسبوع في دبي:«إن المفوضية الأوروبية تجري محادثات مع واشنطن بشأن التعاون المحتمل في قطاعات مثل الطيران والفضاء والصلب وأشباه الموصلات والمعادن الأساسية».
يذكر أن متحدث باسم المفوضية الأوروبية صرح بأن مقترح الاتحاد الأوروبي «صفر مقابل صفر» لا يزال مطروحًا في مفاوضات الرسوم الجمركية مع الولايات المتحدة.
وأشار المتحدث أيضًا إلى أن المكالمة الهاتفية بين رئيسة المفوضية الأوروبية أورسولا فون دير لاين والرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب أعطت زخماً جديداً لمحادثات التجارة.
ويريد الاتحاد الأوروبي إلغاء الرسوم الجمركية البالغة 25% على الصلب والسيارات، وأن يُسقط ترمب ما يطلق عليها الرسوم الجمركية المضادة، التي جرى تحديدها مؤقتا بنسبة 20% للاتحاد الأوروبي؛ لكنها ستبقى عند 10% خلال مهلة مدتها 90 يوما حتى شهر يوليو القادم.

The European Union's Trade Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič announced today that he had another phone call with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, as both sides continue their efforts to reach an agreement on tariffs.
Šefčovič wrote on X: "Another call with U.S. Secretary Howard Lutnick, we invested our time and effort fully, as providing future solutions remains a top priority for the European Union. We remain in constant contact."
Earlier this week, Šefčovič stated in Dubai: "The European Commission is in talks with Washington regarding potential cooperation in sectors such as aviation, space, steel, semiconductors, and critical minerals."
It is worth noting that a spokesperson for the European Commission stated that the EU's "zero for zero" proposal is still on the table in tariff negotiations with the United States.
The spokesperson also mentioned that the phone call between European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and U.S. President Donald Trump provided new momentum for trade talks.
The European Union wants to eliminate the 25% tariffs on steel and cars, and for Trump to drop what are referred to as retaliatory tariffs, which have been temporarily set at 20% for the EU; however, they will remain at 10% during a 90-day grace period until next July.
