مصر: تحويل 200 كيلوغرام من الذهب للبنك المركزي

The Attorney General in Egypt, Mohamed Shawky, announced that the Public Prosecution, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance, is in the process of delivering 200 kilograms of gold bars - which had been seized and converted at the expense of the Public Prosecution - to the Central Bank of Egypt, as a fixed asset of the cash reserve.

Shawky confirmed, in a statement, that these efforts come within the framework of establishing the principles of transparency and governance and safeguarding public funds, and that the Public Prosecution prioritizes issues with an economic dimension to achieve the public interest.

Collection of Claims

During his meeting with Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchak, the Attorney General pointed to the importance of constructive integration between the institutions of the Egyptian state, explaining that the steps taken included maximizing the collection of judicial claims by 214% compared to the previous two years, and cataloging and scheduling all seized items that have been stagnant since the 1980s and taking legal action to dispose of them, resulting in an increase in revenues of over 300% compared to the past four years.

Shawky confirmed the ongoing coordination with officials from the Ministry of Finance to regulate the restructuring of financial management within the Public Prosecution.

For his part, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchak stated that the efforts to resolve the seized items as well as the initiative to convert the gold seizures into bars and benefit from them in increasing the cash reserve are important steps that reflect the shared vision in supporting the national economy.
