The Egyptian artist Rami Sabri has withdrawn from participating in the 34th edition of the Arab Music Festival, announcing his apology and joining the artists and musicians who decided not to participate in the new edition's events.
Sabri explained in a post on his Facebook account that his decision came after he learned details that were not known to him when he announced his participation, especially since he was outside Egypt due to his commitments to several concerts. He pointed out that watching a video of the head of the Egyptian Opera House prompted him to reconsider his position.
“I decided to withdraw”
Rami Sabri stated that what he saw in the video regarding the artists, stars, and musicians was unacceptable from his point of view, adding: “When I saw it, I decided to withdraw and join the artists and musicians.”
He affirmed that his position does not diminish his appreciation for the Egyptian Opera House, clarifying that his apology came in solidarity with the prominent artists and musicians.
From participation to apology
Rami Sabri had announced in a post that he later deleted his participation in the new edition of the festival, confirming his appreciation for its status, based on his studies at the Higher Institute of Arabic Music at the Academy of Arts.
He said: “I am a graduate of the Higher Institute of Arabic Music at the Academy of Arts, so I know the value and status of the Arab Music Festival, and that’s why I announced my participation in the festival this year, and I place myself at the disposal of the esteemed Egyptian Opera House.”
This comes in conjunction with the apologies of several singers for the 34th edition, including Mohamed Tharwat, Ali El Haggar, Janat, Mai Farouk, Marwa Naji, Assi El Helani, Walaa El Jundi, and Mohamed Mohsen.
