من بسطة الرويس إلى سدة النقد
تبدأ الحكاية الليلة باستعادة سيرة الصبي الذي كان يشتري دواوين الشعر من بسطات جدة القديمة بمصروفه الأسبوعي. هذا الشغف المبكر هو ما قاده ليتصدر المتفوقين في الثانوية العامة ويصبح لاحقاً الناقد الذي *«يكتب خارج الأقواس»* متمسكاً بمواقفه ورؤيته التي لا تتزحزح.
«عكاظ».. 28 عاماً من البياض
يستحضر الحفل محطة السريحي التاريخية في صحيفة عكاظ، التي قضى فيها أكثر من 28 عاماً. لم يكن هناك مجرد مدير تحرير بل كان سادناً للثقافة وكاتباً لزاوية «ولكم الرأي»، التي كانت تفتح صباحاً أبيض للقراء كل يوم. لقد آمن بأن الصحافة منبر لتمكين الشباب، وهو الموقف الذي جهر به منذ بداياته.
الرويس.. الانتماء الأصيل
ورغم تنقله الأكاديمي بين عواصم العالم من بغداد وتونس إلى زيورخ، ظل السريحي «ابن الرويس البار»، الليلة يستذكر رفاقه كيف خلّد ذاكرة حيه في كتابه «الرويس»، ليحمي حكايات الناس من النسيان، ويثبت أن المثقف الحقيقي هو الذي يسكنه المكان قبل أن يسكنه هو.

Al-Ruwais.. Authentic Belonging
Despite his academic travels between the capitals of the world from Baghdad and Tunis to Zurich, Al-Surayhi remained the "proud son of Al-Ruwais." Tonight, he recalls his companions and how he immortalized the memory of his neighborhood in his book "Al-Ruwais," protecting the stories of the people from oblivion, proving that a true intellectual is one who is inhabited by the place before he inhabits it.
