The scientific committee for the "Ameen Madani Award for Research in the History of the Arabian Peninsula" has decided to award the prize in its tenth edition for the topic "Studies that focused on ancient Arabic inscriptions and their role in understanding the societies of the Arabian Peninsula before Islam, including, for example, research on ancient Semitic writings and the alphabets in which they were recorded, and how they illuminated many aspects of ancient Arab history." The award is shared between Dr. Salem bin Ahmed Tayaran, a professor of archaeology, Semitic languages and civilizations, ancient writings, Near Eastern antiquities, and comparative religion at King Saud University, and Dr. Mushlah bin Kameekh Al-Muraykhi, a professor of early Arabic writings, inscriptions, Islamic papyri, history, their methods, and their mathematical rules at King Saud University. The award was also granted to Dr. Suleiman bin Abdul Rahman Al-Duhayyib, a faculty member at King Saud University.

Dr. Tayaran has numerous research studies, including "The Civilizational Aspects of the Arabs Before Islam" and "The Importance of Ancient Written Inscriptions as a Source for the History of the Arabian Peninsula Before Islam," along with his multiple readings of inscriptions and ancient writings published in various information mediums, some of which were published in German and English. Tayaran has played an important role in the excavation work at the village of Al-Faw and in reviewing and editing the results of that work, overseeing the review and editing of research and studies after the passing of his professor, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Tayeb Al-Ansari, and supervising their publication.

Dr. Al-Muraykhi's research interests have focused on "Arabic and Islamic writings and inscriptions," and he has conducted precise scientific research on the topic of Islamic papyri, early Arabic writings, and the roots and development of Arabic script.

The award was granted for his numerous scientific works, including published books, research, and studies in both Arabic and English in scientific journals inside and outside the Kingdom, due to his distinguished scientific status in academic circles in the Kingdom, the Arab world, and globally, as well as his presence in the scientific and media arenas. Dr. Al-Duhayyib's contributions are characterized by their abundance in discovering texts, and he has important studies on the societies of the Arabian Peninsula—or those with origins in the Arabian Peninsula—such as his research on "The Political History of the Nabataeans," "The Ugaritians and Phoenicians - A Historical Introduction," "Social Life in Ha'il," "Writings in the Ancient Near East," and "The Riyadh Region - Ancient Political and Civilizational History," in addition to the critical spirit evident in his writings.

The winners will be celebrated in Medina under the patronage of the region's prince, Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz.
