The Egyptian artist Yasmin Sabri has settled the controversy surrounding her new collaboration with director Mohamed Sami in the series (Tamkeen), confirming that her focus is on the success of the upcoming work rather than the old disputes that occurred between them years ago.
Sabri's comment came on the sidelines of the private screening of her new film (Naseeb), where she expressed her surprise at the uproar that accompanied the news of her return to work with Sami, saying: "Why do you want to ignite the world," referring to the ongoing debate on social media regarding this collaboration.
The Egyptian artist emphasized that the main goal of the project is to present a dramatic work that befits the Egyptian and Arab audience, stressing the importance of the integration of efforts from all participants to ensure the series is presented honorably during the Ramadan drama season of 2027.
This partnership brings to mind the crisis that erupted between the two parties in 2016 during the filming of the series (Al-Oshera), starring artist Mohamed Ramadan, when disputes escalated between them behind the scenes. According to what was circulated at the time, Sabri objected to the reduction of her role and the deletion of several of her scenes in favor of artist Mai Omar, before she withdrew from the project due to a disagreement related to the trajectory and ending of the character she was portraying. The crisis was not limited to the filming locations but extended to the media, where Mohamed Sami criticized Yasmin Sabri's performance, announcing during that period his unwillingness to collaborate with her in the future.
The series (Tamkeen) is the first work to bring the two together since those disputes, placing the project under significant interest to follow how well they succeed in overcoming past disagreements and transforming them into a new artistic collaboration.
The series, according to circulating information, addresses events inspired by real occurrences and cases, within a dramatic treatment that combines suspense and the human dimension, in preparation for its airing during the Ramadan season of 2027.
