خرج الفنان المصري أحمد العوضي للرد على الانتقادات التي طالت مشاركته في حملة ترشيد استهلاك الكهرباء، التي أطلقتها وزارة الكهرباء والطاقة المتجددة، بعد أن رأى البعض أن رسالته لا تتماشى مع نمط حياته من حيث الإقامة في فيلا كبيرة واقتناء سيارات باهظة الثمن.
نفي تقاضي أي أجر عن المشاركة
ورد العوضي عبر فيديو على حسابه بـ«فيسبوك»، مؤكداً أنه لم يحصل على أي مقابل مادي نظير مشاركته في الحملة، قائلاً: «أنا ماخدتش ولا جنيه، وكل اللي عملته إني بقول للناس اقفلوا النور اللي مش محتاجينه».
وأوضح أن الهدف من الحملة لا يتعلق بفرض أسلوب حياة معين، بل نشر الوعي بعادات يومية بسيطة في استهلاك الكهرباء، مثل إطفاء الإضاءة غير المستخدمة، بما يساهم في تقليل الاستهلاك.
استياء من ربط الحملة بحياته الشخصية
وأعرب عن انزعاجه من بعض التعليقات التي ربطت بين مشاركته ونمط حياته، مؤكداً أن هذه الادعاءات لا أساس لها، وأن ظهوره في الحملة جاء من منطلق المسؤولية المجتمعية، معلقاً: «مين قال لك إني خدت ملايين ومين قالك إني قاعد في فيلا 15 أوضة مفيش الكلام ده».

وعلى الصعيد الآخر، يعكف أحمد العوضي على تصوير فيلمه الجديد «شمشون ودليلة» الذي سيجمعه مع الفنانة مي عمر للمرة الأولى في السينما، ويجمع في بطولة العمل خالد الصاوي، عصام السقا، محمد ثروت، وأحمد الرفاعي، إلى جانب مجموعة أخرى من الفنانين، والفيلم من تأليف أمجد الشرقاوي، وشادي محسن. وإخراج رؤوف السيد.

El Awady responded via a video on his Facebook account, confirming that he did not receive any financial compensation for his participation in the campaign, saying: "I didn't take a single pound, all I did was tell people to turn off the lights they don't need."
He explained that the goal of the campaign is not to impose a certain lifestyle but to raise awareness about simple daily habits in electricity consumption, such as turning off unused lights, which contributes to reducing consumption.
Discontent over linking the campaign to his personal life
He expressed his annoyance at some comments that linked his participation to his lifestyle, affirming that these claims are unfounded, and that his appearance in the campaign came from a sense of social responsibility, commenting: "Who told you I took millions, and who told you I live in a villa with 15 rooms? This is not true."

On another note, Ahmed El Awady is currently filming his new movie "Samson and Delilah," which will bring him together with actress Mai Omar for the first time in cinema. The film also stars Khaled El Sawy, Essam El Sakka, Mohamed Tharwat, and Ahmed El Refai, along with a group of other artists. The film is written by Amjad El Sharkawy and Shady Mohsen, and directed by Raouf El Sayid.
