وأوضح فهمي في بيان رسمي، أن استحضاره لبعض الأمثلة خلال المقابلة كان عفويًا، وشهد تداخلًا بين الأحداث والأسماء والمناصب السياسية، نافياً أي قصد للإساءة أو التقليل من قيمة الأعمال الفنية العربية الرائدة.
احترام الشعب الجزائر
وأكد الفنان المصري احترامه العميق وحبه الصادق للجزائر وشعبها وفنها، مشيراً إلى أن إنجازات السينما الجزائرية ونجاحاتها العالمية مصدر فخر لكل مواطن عربي، وأن مكانتها محفوظة ومقدرة دائمًا في قلوب الجميع.

وأشار فهمي إلى أن الفن رسالته الأساسية هي التقارب والمحبة، وأن السينما تبقى لغة تجمع الشعوب وتوثق روابط الأخوة بين العرب، معرباً عن امتنانه لجمهوره الجزائري وتقديره لتفهمه السياق العفوي للحديث.
