في مشهد غير مألوف داخل أروقة الثقافة الفرنسية، داهمت الشرطة مقر معهد العالم العربي في باريس، بينما كان رئيسه المستقيل جاك لانغ يلقي كلمة وداع أمام الموظفين. المداهمة جاءت على خلفية تحقيقات تتصل بعلاقاته المالية المزعومة مع رجل الأعمال الأمريكي المدان بجرائم جنسية جيفري إبستين.
القضاء الفرنسي فتح في السادس من فبراير تحقيقاً أولياً بشبهة «تبييض أموال ناتج عن تهرب ضريبي مشدد»، يشمل لانغ (86 عاماً) وابنته كارولين. وثائق أمريكية أشارت إلى ورود اسم لانغ 673 مرة في ملفات إبستين، ما عزز الشبهات بوجود روابط مالية بين الطرفين. ورغم نفيه القاطع قائلاً: «ليس لدي ما أخفيه»، إلا أن الضغوط السياسية دفعته إلى الاستقالة بعد 13 عاماً على رأس مؤسسة تُعد جسراً ثقافياً بين فرنسا والعالم العربي.
كارولين لانغ.. شركة «أوفشور» تحت المجهر
تحقيق لموقع «ميديا بارت» كشف أن كارولين لانغ أسست عام 2016 شركة مسجلة في جزر فيرجن الأمريكية بالشراكة مع إبستين. وعلى إثر التسريبات، استقالت من منصبها في نقابة الإنتاج المستقل (SPI). محاميهما لوران ميرليه أكد أنه «لم تكن هناك أي تحويلات مالية»، في وقت تواصل فيه النيابة مراجعة ملفات مرتبطة بوكيل العارضات جان لوك برونيل وشخصيات أخرى.
17 الجاري.. من يخلف لانغ؟
في السابع عشر من الشهر الجاري، يُنتظر حسم اسم الرئيس الجديد للمعهد. وزير الخارجية جان نويل بارو استقبل ثلاثة مرشحين ضمن قائمة مصغرة، وسط توجه لإغلاق «حقبة لانغ» وفتح صفحة جديدة.
تتصدر المشهد أسماء بارزة، بينها المديرة العامة لليونسكو أودري أزولاي، ووزيرة الثقافة السابقة ريما عبدالمالك، ووزير الخارجية السابق جان إيف لودريان، إضافة إلى الدبلوماسية آن كلير لوجوندر والسفير السابق لدى المملكة فرانسوا غوييت.
إرث ثقافي.. وكتاب مؤجل
لانغ، أحد أبرز رموز عهد الرئيس الراحل فرانسوا ميتران، ارتبط اسمه بإطلاق «عيد الموسيقى» وإصلاحات ثقافية كبرى. لكن العاصفة الحالية دفعت دار «غاليمار» إلى تأجيل إصدار كتابه «حياتي مع ميتران».
هكذا يقف معهد العالم العربي عند مفترق طرق: بين إرث ثقيل بالإنجازات، وأزمة قضائية تعيد رسم ملامح المرحلة القادمة.
In an unusual scene within the corridors of French culture, police raided the headquarters of the Arab World Institute in Paris while its resigning president, Jack Lang, was delivering a farewell speech to the staff. The raid came in connection with investigations into his alleged financial ties with the American businessman convicted of sexual crimes, Jeffrey Epstein.
The French judiciary opened a preliminary investigation on February 6 on suspicion of "money laundering resulting from aggravated tax evasion," involving Lang (86 years old) and his daughter Caroline. American documents indicated that Lang's name appeared 673 times in Epstein's files, which strengthened suspicions of financial links between the two parties. Despite his firm denial, stating, "I have nothing to hide," political pressures led him to resign after 13 years at the head of an institution considered a cultural bridge between France and the Arab world.
Caroline Lang.. An "Offshore" Company Under Scrutiny
An investigation by the website "Mediapart" revealed that Caroline Lang established a company in 2016 registered in the U.S. Virgin Islands in partnership with Epstein. Following the leaks, she resigned from her position at the Independent Production Union (SPI). Their lawyer, Laurent Merlet, confirmed that "there were no financial transfers," while the prosecution continues to review files related to model agent Jean-Luc Brunel and other figures.
On the 17th.. Who Will Succeed Lang?
On the 17th of this month, the name of the new president of the institute is expected to be finalized. Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot received three candidates as part of a shortlist, amid a move to close the "Lang era" and open a new chapter.
Prominent names are leading the scene, including UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, former Culture Minister Rima Abdul Malak, and former Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, in addition to diplomat Anne-Claire Legendre and the former ambassador to the Kingdom, François Gouyette.

Lang, one of the most prominent symbols of the late President François Mitterrand's era, is associated with the launch of the "Fête de la Musique" and major cultural reforms. However, the current storm has prompted Gallimard Publishing to postpone the release of his book "My Life with Mitterrand."
