اتهم المنشد حامد الضبعان، الفنان محمد عبده بسرقة الألحان من التراث اليمني، قائلاً إن بعض الألحان تمت سرقتها، ومن أشهر الأغنيات مسروقة اللحن «لو كلفتني المحبة».
وأضاف خلال ظهوره في بودكاست نشر: «أي أحد يأخذ ألحان شخص آخر وينسبها لنفسه فهذه سرقة، وإذ أردت أن تأخذ ألحاناً وتطورها فيجب أن تكتب ذلك، وعن نفسي أنا أكتب اسم الملحن حتى أيام الألبومات طالما أن اللحن لا يخصني».
وكشف الضبعان خلال اللقاء، سبب خلافه مع الفنانة الكويتية حياة الفهد في 2005، وقصيدة «يا سعود» التي انتشرت حولها شائعة تخص ابنها.
وأضاف: «كنت أحب المجلات الشعرية، وصادفت قصيدة للفنانة حياة الفهد بعنوان «يا سعود»، وحاولت التواصل مع المجلة أو الفنانة حياة الفهد ولم أتمكن من الوصول، فأخذت القصيدة وسجلتها ونزلتها في قناتي على اليوتيوب بكلماتها كما هي».
وقال: «بعد انتشار العمل ظهرت معه قصة لا أعلم عنها شيئاً، وهي أن الفنانة حياة الفهد لها ولد يدعى سعود وهاجر منذ سنوات بسبب معارضته للفن ولعمل والدته».
وتابع: «انتشرت مع القصة شائعة بأن الفنانة حياة الفهد أرسلت لي القصيدة من أجل تلحينها حتى يرق قلب ابنها ويعود لها من جديد»، مؤكداً تواصل الإعلامية الكويتية مي العيدان معه وإخباره بأن حياة الفهد «زعلانة منه وممكن ترفع عليه دعوى بسبب القصيدة». وأضاف الضبعان: «تواصلت مع الفنانة حياة الفهد، وكشفت لها الحقيقة، وأنني لا أعلم أي تفاصيل عن شائعة ابنها».
من جانبها، أكدت الفنانة حياة الفهد، للضبعان استماعها للقصيدة التي لحنها يومياً، ولكنها غاضبة من الشائعة التي حبكت حول ابنها، خصوصاً أن هناك أشخاصاً من داخل وخارج الكويت صدقوا الشائعة وتواصلوا معها للإصلاح بينها وبين ابنها.
وقال الضبعان: «أخبرتني الفنانة الكويتية عن إصدارها ديواناً شعرياً ومنحتني موافقتها على تلحين أي من قصائدها».
The singer Hamid Al-Dhabaan accused the artist Mohammed Abdu of stealing melodies from Yemeni heritage, stating that some melodies have been stolen, with one of the most famous stolen songs being "Law Kalafatni Al-Mahabba."
He added during his appearance on a podcast: "Anyone who takes another person's melodies and attributes them to themselves is committing theft. If you want to take melodies and develop them, you should write that down. As for me, I write the name of the composer even during album days as long as the melody does not belong to me."
Al-Dhabaan revealed during the interview the reason for his dispute with the Kuwaiti artist Hayat Al-Fahad in 2005, and the poem "Ya Saud," which was surrounded by rumors concerning her son.
He added: "I loved poetry magazines and came across a poem by the artist Hayat Al-Fahad titled 'Ya Saud.' I tried to contact the magazine or the artist Hayat Al-Fahad but was unable to reach them, so I took the poem, recorded it, and uploaded it to my YouTube channel with its original lyrics."
He said: "After the work spread, a story emerged that I knew nothing about, which is that the artist Hayat Al-Fahad has a son named Saud who emigrated years ago due to his opposition to art and his mother's work."
He continued: "The story was accompanied by a rumor that the artist Hayat Al-Fahad sent me the poem to compose it so that her son’s heart would soften and he would return to her again," confirming that the Kuwaiti media figure Mai Al-Eidan contacted him and informed him that Hayat Al-Fahad was "angry with him and might file a lawsuit against him because of the poem." Al-Dhabaan added: "I contacted the artist Hayat Al-Fahad and revealed the truth to her, and that I did not know any details about the rumor regarding her son."
For her part, the artist Hayat Al-Fahad confirmed to Al-Dhabaan that she listens to the poem he composed daily, but she is angry about the rumor that was woven around her son, especially since there are people from inside and outside Kuwait who believed the rumor and contacted her to reconcile her with her son.
Al-Dhabaan said: "The Kuwaiti artist told me about her upcoming poetry collection and gave me her approval to compose any of her poems."
