قدمت الفنانة الأمريكية بريتني سبيرز، اعتذاراً علنياً إثر قيامها بالتدخين على متن طائرة خاصة خلال رحلتها من كابو سان لوكاس إلى لوس أنجليس.
وأكدت في بيان أصدرته أن الحادثة كانت نتيجة سوء فهم.
ونشرت بريتني سبيرز، مقطع فيديو عبر حسابها على تطبيق إنستغرام ظهرت فيه داخل الطائرة، وأرفقته بتعليق أوضحت فيه أن صديقها هو من وضع السيجارة في فمها وأشعلها لها، مضيفة: «ظننت أن القوانين على هذه الطائرة الخاصة تسمح بالتدخين».
وأكدت عدم تقصدها الإساءة أو إزعاج الركاب، مشيرة إلى أن طاقم الطائرة خصص لها مقعدًا في مؤخرة الطائرة بعيدًا عن الآخرين.
وأفادت تقارير إعلامية أن طاقم الطائرة اعتبر تعامل سبيرز صعبًا إلى حدّ ما، رغم أنها امتثلت على الفور لطلب إطفاء السيجارة.
كما جرى إبلاغ سلطات مطار لوس أنجليس الدولي بخصوص الحادثة، واستقبل موظفون من إدارة الجمارك النجمة عند وصولها، الأمر الذي فسّرته مازحةً بأنه استقبال رسمي بسبب شهرتها، إذ قالت: «ظننت أنهم ينتظرونني بهذا الشكل لأنني معروفة».
وأشارت إلى موقف غير مريح حدث بينها وبين إحدى مضيفات الطيران، واصفة تصرف المضيفة بأنه غير مهني، إذ قالت إنها شعرت بقيود على حركتها داخل الطائرة، على الرغم من عدم وجود ركاب آخرين خلال الدقائق الأولى من الرحلة.
من جهتها، أفادت مصادر مطلعة بأن بريتني سبيرز غادرت المطار بعد أن تلقت تحذيرًا شفويًا من موظفي الجمارك، فيما امتنعت شركة الطيران المشغّلة للرحلة عن الإدلاء بأي تعليق رسمي حول الحادثة.

She confirmed in a statement that the incident was a result of a misunderstanding.
Britney Spears posted a video on her Instagram account showing her inside the plane, accompanied by a caption explaining that her friend was the one who put the cigarette in her mouth and lit it for her, adding: "I thought the rules on this private jet allowed smoking."
She emphasized that she did not intend to offend or disturb the passengers, noting that the flight crew had assigned her a seat at the back of the plane away from others.
Media reports indicated that the flight crew found Spears's behavior somewhat difficult, although she immediately complied with the request to extinguish the cigarette.
The authorities at Los Angeles International Airport were also informed about the incident, and customs officials greeted the star upon her arrival, which she jokingly interpreted as an official welcome due to her fame, saying: "I thought they were waiting for me like this because I’m famous."
She mentioned an uncomfortable situation that occurred between her and one of the flight attendants, describing the attendant's behavior as unprofessional, stating that she felt restricted in her movements inside the plane, despite there being no other passengers during the first few minutes of the flight.
For their part, informed sources reported that Britney Spears left the airport after receiving a verbal warning from customs officials, while the airline operating the flight declined to make any official comment regarding the incident.
