The malfunctions experienced by the lone ATM in the Al-Sahan center in Bani Saad, south of Taif, have doubled the suffering of the residents, prompting many, including the elderly and retirees, to travel long distances to withdraw amounts they use after point-of-sale devices have gone out of service, and many residents' need for cash withdrawals.
Many locals, including Mohammed Al-Nufai, Abdullah Al-Dhuwaibi, and Khalaf Al-Thubaiti, who spoke to "Okaz," indicated that banking services in Bani Saad are not a priority for local banks, as there is only one ATM that frequently malfunctions due to power outages. The suffering is compounded by point-of-sale devices that also suffer from weak communication networks, with residents calling on service agencies to address the recurring hardships that have caused significant distress for the population, especially the elderly who travel long distances to benefit from ATMs in other areas.
Abdullah Al-Otaibi expressed surprise at the silence of local banks and the lack of attention from the only bank in the area, which often breaks down and remains unrepaired for long periods.
The residents of Bani Saad villages renewed their demands to the telecommunications and electricity companies to improve services in their villages, especially since they are capable of addressing the situation and changing the current conditions.
