Electronic fraud takes various forms through websites and applications that appear legitimate on the surface, reaching to voice and video forgery, all aimed at deceiving the victim and prompting them to disclose their data. Behind this are individuals and organized criminal networks, whose damages can extend to physical harm and emotional and financial blackmail.
Among the most dangerous are those related to bank accounts, where fraudsters create fake sites that resemble well-known sites, or send messages mimicking official and commercial entities, to convince the user to enter their banking information and complete electronic payment transactions, after which they quickly and repeatedly withdraw from the personal account.
Here, the basic protection tools emerge: adherence to approved official platforms, avoiding unknown links, reporting suspicious accounts, not sharing personal verification codes, and using internet security programs. Young people, in particular, need to enhance these tools through continuous awareness.
The responsibility does not rest solely on the individual; national cybersecurity entities have a significant role in protecting the average user through monitoring, awareness, and rapid response. Banks also play a pivotal role in receiving reports related to suspicious transactions. Additionally, the importance of spreading public awareness through repeated and widespread advertising becomes evident, targeting first the average simple user and then the advanced user, through the relevant government entities, while employing government artificial intelligence to enhance protection and detect threats early.
Awareness and commitment to protection tools and reporting are essential first lines of defense. In the digital transformation journey that the Kingdom is witnessing, ensuring documentation and digital security becomes a shared responsibility that builds a safe environment worthy of future ambitions.
