On the occasion of the cessation of war in Gaza after two years of killing and destruction that affected all aspects of this city, during the Sharm El Sheikh conference in Egypt, which was attended by a large number of world leaders, based on the intervention and proposal of U.S. President Donald Trump, who sought to resolve the conflict through peaceful means, and all the conflicting parties agreed to his initiative.
A document prepared by the U.S. president to achieve peace was signed, which included the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in exchange for the release of a large number of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, some of whom had been imprisoned for decades, and some were sentenced to death.
It was also agreed to return the residents of Gaza who had been displaced from it, but the joy of return was soon mixed with sadness and anger when they saw their city transformed into ruins and piles of concrete and iron, with no trace of life remaining. Everything was destroyed: hospitals, mosques, government offices, streets, electricity and water networks, and commercial markets.
The residents set up whatever torn tents, sheets, and blankets they could find to serve as shelter for them, while some lived in what remained of the demolished rooms. They had no power or strength, except for hope in God Almighty, and then in the countries of the world, especially the Arab and Islamic countries that sympathize with these oppressed people, to extend a helping hand and alleviate their suffering from exposure, heat, cold, illness, hunger, thirst, and fear, and to contribute to the reconstruction and rebuilding of Gaza.
Allah Almighty said: “The merciful are shown mercy by the Merciful. Have mercy on those on earth, and you will be shown mercy from above.” And the Prophet ﷺ said: “Allah is in the aid of the servant as long as the servant is in the aid of his brother.”
It is worth mentioning and appreciating that the Saudi people take pride in their blessed country, which has stood with the Palestinian people since the first Nakba decades ago, supporting them with money and stance, and advocating for their cause in various forums, and the continuous call for recognition of their state.
The Kingdom has embraced tens of thousands of Palestinian families, who found security and safety within it, and there was no distinction made between them and the citizens of the homeland. The Kingdom has been – and still is – at the forefront of everything that serves this oppressed people.
The blessed efforts of the Kingdom have resulted in a large number of countries recognizing the State of Palestine and establishing diplomatic relations with it, a steadfast approach since the era of the founding king Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman – may God have mercy on him – who supported the Palestinian cause since 1948, when the State of Israel was established with the support of Western countries.
The Kingdom also participated at that time with thousands of its brave soldiers in the war, and many of them were martyred, and the Saudi army had a noble stance that placed it at the forefront of the participating Arab armies.
During the reign of King Faisal – may God have mercy on him – the Saudi supportive stance was strengthened through calls for Islamic solidarity, and his visits to several African countries that responded to his call, leading sixteen of them to sever their diplomatic relations with Israel in support of Palestine.
This blessed approach continued during the reigns of the kings that followed, up to the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and his trustworthy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who continuously call for the recognition of the Palestinian state on its land.
It is enough pride that the U.S. president praised the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the Sharm El Sheikh conference, describing him as an “old friend” and a “man of state, reform, and peace,” which is an honor for every Saudi and a source of pride for the entire nation.
The Kingdom has not hesitated – in the past or present – in providing financial support or diplomatic stances, having spent billions in support of the Palestinian people. Whoever denies this will have to account for it before God, and God knows the intentions.
