As soon as you write simple and sincere words expressing your opinion on the platform "X" about an award that one of the sons of the nation, nominated for it, is naturally expected to receive, you find yourself surrounded by a huge amount of tweets carrying false accusations, questioning your credibility, and describing you in the worst terms, including calling you a "hypocrite" and a "fickle journalist."
- This is what happened to me after a tweet in which I expressed my strong support for the capable captain Salem Al-Dosari after he became one of the nominees for the Best Asian Player award. In contrast, the reaction from the supporters of Al-Hilal club was completely different, as they showered me with tweets full of praise, appreciation, and thanks for my "national stance" with the son of the nation, considering me the best sports critic in the media arena.
- A few days later, our national team played its match against the Indonesian team, and the captain of the "Green," Salem Al-Dosari, did not deliver the expected performance, as agreed upon by fair analysts and critics. When the referee awarded a penalty, I thanked God in a tweet that he did not take it despite stepping up to it, because I feared for him from failure, especially since he has often faced bad luck in taking penalties. If he failed again, it would have been a significant setback in his career with the national team, and he would have faced severe blame from everyone except for a known group with contradictory positions.
- If the same situation had happened with Al-Hilal club, we would have seen an organized campaign from the blue media against the player, forgetting his great loyalty and what he has achieved for Al-Hilal, which surpasses what any previous player representing this great club has accomplished.
- Even after I criticized his weak performance against Indonesia, I found a fierce campaign from voices within Al-Hilal that had just days ago praised and lauded me after my support for Captain Salem in his nomination for the award, only to turn against me in a way that made me laugh a lot.
- What amused me even more was that those non-Hilali voices that described me as a hypocrite and a fickle journalist transformed after my criticism of Salem into those who described me as a fair journalist and an unparalleled writer! I said to myself: Glory be to the changer of circumstances!
- What I believe is that "emotional opinions" in the virtual world of "Twitter/X" should be met with an open spirit, as freedom of opinion is a right guaranteed for all, provided it is free from personal insults, even if the opinions are divergent or contradictory. As for my relationship with the fans, regardless of their inclinations, I deal with it according to the saying: "Pleasing people is an unattainable goal."
- In general, I hope our national team surpasses its upcoming match against the Iraqi team tomorrow and qualifies for the next World Cup finals. I remain optimistic about this, and I look forward to seeing the capable captain Salem Al-Dosari in his best psychological and technical condition against Iraq, just as we see him excelling with his club Al-Hilal, with his fighting spirit and distinguished contributions, so we can enjoy his creative football performance, just as we enjoyed the promising talent Saleh Abu Al-Shamat against the Indonesian team, Mashallah upon him.
