Palestine is not just a geography that has been seized or borders besieged by walls and wires; it is a genuine Arab cause that pulses in the conscience of every Arab since the early twentieth century until today. It encapsulates the meanings of dignity and sovereignty, and embodies the moral and emotional bond between Arab peoples, regardless of their backgrounds and regions. Palestine has never been merely a fleeting political issue or a limited regional conflict; it has become a unifying symbol of Arab identity in its highest forms, and a criterion by which the positions of states and peoples are measured against the values of justice and freedom. This cause has managed to unite hearts before positions, and to dissolve geographical and ethnic differences, becoming the compass towards which the Arab conscience turns whenever nations stumble or interests collide. Since the Nakba of 1948, through the occupation of Jerusalem and the violation of its sanctities, the name Palestine has remained present in speeches and platforms, in songs and poems, and even in the daily details of the simple Arab who sees in Palestine a mirror of his dignity. Palestine is not just the issue of an occupied people; it is the issue of an entire nation that sees the liberation of the land and the preservation of rights as a moral and existential duty that does not fade with time, nor disappear under the rubble of challenges. Thus, Palestine remains the most prominent symbol of the steadfastness of Arab identity and the truest mirror of its human and political interconnectedness.
Amid global events of wars, violations, and conspiracies, the Palestinian cause emerges through Gulf Arab efforts, and Saudi shuttle diplomacy between UN meetings and interviews, both public and private, to reveal in the political scene the outlines of expected solutions to end the Gaza crisis with an American plan proposed by President Trump that also included a two-state solution. This plan faced some internal and external obstacles but overcame them and proceeded according to provisions, the most important of which is the administration of Gaza through a politically neutral Palestinian transitional technocratic committee responsible for daily services, with the participation of Palestinian and international experts, and under the supervision of a new international transitional body called the "Peace Council," headed by President Trump, alongside other international figures such as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. The tasks of this council include creating a clear framework for the reconstruction of Gaza and its financing until the reform of the Palestinian Authority is completed and its ability to assume governance is restored. In addition to several important provisions included in the plan, which received initial approval from both the Palestinian and Israeli sides, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and several Arab and Islamic countries welcomed its outcomes, supporting Hamas's announcement of its readiness to hand over the administration of Gaza to a transitional Palestinian management committee of independent competencies. They emphasized the necessity of starting immediate negotiations to agree on the mechanisms for implementing the proposal and addressing all its aspects. All that remains is to remove the fear that resides within us all of the collapse of these efforts and the return to a dreadful square that we know well and have gone through repeatedly as Arab peoples and governments striving for peace, healing the wounds of the past, and establishing a secure Palestinian state for a people that deserves peace and a safe life. Will this (easy) hope be realized, or will it be hindered for old, renewed reasons?
