Doesn't Al-Wehda Club in Mecca deserve to be treated after its relegation to the first division as Al-Ahli was treated when it was relegated two seasons ago to the "Yellow" league?
Isn't it the right of this prestigious club to receive the same support that helped restore Al-Ahli to its rightful place among the elite, just one season after relegation?
- It seems that the scene is completely different between Al-Ahli and the Knights of Mecca, as well as all the Saudi clubs that faced the same fate in previous seasons. The case of Al-Ahli was "exceptional" by all standards and measures, and it cannot be compared or demanded to be treated the same; what happened to it was outside the rules and logic, rather it was a rapid and extensive response that no one else received.
- In my opinion, Al-Ahli's relegation was a crime against all its supporters—members of honor, staff, fans, and media—and against all those who contributed to this downfall from within the club itself. However, what happened afterward was a major turning point; dedicated and passionate men stepped up to rescue their club from its crisis, and they found support from official and fan sources. Al-Ahli regained its position, and relegation became a "blessing" rather than a "setback."
- The ranks united, the fans awakened from their slumber, and they transcended their allegiance to individuals to a commitment to the entity, after they felt the danger of abandoning their club. Their voice became strong and influential, even surpassing the voice of the club's media, which was "neither here nor there."
- This fan mobilization created tremendous positive pressure on the management, attracting high-level local and foreign players to Al-Ahli, and reorganizing its internal structure, allowing it to quickly return to its rightful place after a painful "ear-pulling," which was filled with lessons and gains that had not been achieved since its establishment.
- As for Al-Wehda Club, the situation is completely different. It has tasted the bitterness of relegation more than once, yet it has not found the same passion from its supporters, nor the honorable movement that senses danger and rushes to save the club. We have not witnessed meetings, initiatives, or solidarity positions from its well-known figures who have left their mark on its journey, such as Jamal Tunis and his brothers, Mohammed Al-Tayeb, Abdul-Mu'ti Kaki, Ali Dawood, Dakhil Al-Ahmadi, Jamil Al-Farsi, and former club stars like Hatim Khaimi, Abdullah Khawqir, Hamid Subhi, and others. We have not even seen their actual presence in critical matches, or a gathering worthy of the history of this prestigious club, as if everyone left it to struggle alone for survival.
- Through these positions, we can grasp the significant difference between those who possess true passion and belonging, and those who deal with indifference and apathy. Therefore, it is not surprising that Al-Wehda begins its new season with three consecutive defeats, at the bottom of the first division standings, and threatened—God forbid—with relegation to the second division if this neglect and indifference continues.
- In conclusion, I can only say: May God reward you for your efforts with Al-Wehda Club, as it is now taking its last breaths, struggling against death, after being let down by its supporters, and abandoned by the people of Mecca before anyone else. May God hold accountable those responsible.
