In all the cases where I personally dealt with "Najm," I found qualified and trained Saudi teams conducting vehicle accident assessments with neutrality and professionalism. Moreover, the handling of accidents by "Najm" is done using modern technologies that help accurately determine the percentages of responsibility, in addition to completing transactions entirely through digital channels, which saves time and effort and ensures the rights of all parties. The percentage of reporting accidents digitally reached 94%, with the issuance of accident reports also being transferred to digital channels, making it easier for beneficiaries to follow up on their transactions. In fact, the last time I used "Najm" services for one of my vehicles, they provided the service of towing the broken-down car on a flatbed and completed all related transactions without me leaving my home!
In my opinion, the "Najm" model represents a unique Saudi success among the G20 countries, and we might not find it in other countries outside this group. The mechanism of its operation, based on the latest technologies, has not only facilitated the handling of accidents that previously posed significant challenges but has also enhanced trust thanks to the transparency and regulations it operates under!
The interconnected work of "Najm" with its partners from traffic authorities, assessment centers, and repair centers embodies the integration within the traffic safety system to achieve a secure community in line with Saudi Vision 2030. There is no doubt that the success of this system is primarily based on the regulations it operates under, which precisely define the role of each party to ensure fair handling of accidents while simultaneously guaranteeing that there is no conflict of interest among the parties in this system as some might believe!
For example, "Najm" assesses the accidents it handles but does not take on the responsibility of estimating the damages resulting from them, as this task is assigned to the "Taqdeer" centers that operate under the supervision of the Saudi Authority for Accredited Valuers. Additionally, the ownership of "Najm" by insurance companies does not mean that they control its operations. The company, which was established in 2007 at the initiative of the central bank, is currently subject to precise governance by the insurance authority and works in partnership with the General Directorate of Traffic, Road Security, assessment centers, and car repair centers within an integrated system that achieves clear standards for transparency, integrity, and neutrality!
In reality, there is no sense in believing that insurance companies control the process, as the company has an independent board of directors overseeing a work system in which the Saudi workforce constitutes 98% according to the company’s records. Furthermore, all accidents are compensated for by various insurance companies, meaning that none of these companies can achieve an exceptional interest. It is also important to note that there are accidents that fall outside "Najm's" coverage, where traffic and road security departments handle them and are subject to the same claims and compensation procedures that insurance companies deal with, without affecting the rights of any party or leading to a conflict of interest!
