Since God -Glory be to Him- chose the land of the Arabian Peninsula as the place of revelation, made Mecca the qibla for Muslims, and established Medina as the starting point for the call, and then blessed the land of Palestine by placing the Al-Aqsa Mosque as the third of the two holy mosques; a triangle of sanctity was drawn on the spiritual map of the Islamic nation, connecting the two holy mosques in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Palestine. These places were not merely locations, but divine messages about the centrality of religion in human life, and about the unity of direction and destiny for the Muslim nation, in which the Seal of the Prophets, peace be upon him, was sent, and upon which the Noble Quran, the final divine message, was revealed.
Since the dawn of Islam, Arabs and Muslims have understood that protecting these sanctities means protecting the identity itself, and that neglecting them is a neglect of the trust that God has placed upon the entire nation. Here, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia emerged – due to the presence of the two holy mosques – as the original guardian of religion and protector of the sanctities, combining the responsibility of deep religious commitment with the status of political leadership.
In modern times, with the intensification of the conflict over the land of Palestine, the Kingdom was one of the first countries to adopt the Palestinian cause in Arab, Islamic, and international forums. Its positions were not mere statements, but practical steps manifested in financial aid, diplomatic support, and a constant emphasis on the centrality of Jerusalem in the hearts of the nation. Those who follow the decisions of Arab summits will find that Saudi Arabia has been leading the front line in affirming the rights of Palestinians and confronting Zionist ambitions.
However, some malicious individuals have recently attempted to cast doubt on this steadfast historical position by spreading unfounded rumors, such as their claim that a Saudi ship is sailing from Italy to Israel loaded with goods. The falsity of these claims was proven when documented facts emerged confirming that the ship is a commercial vessel belonging to European companies, with no connection to the Kingdom whatsoever. Yet, Saudi Arabia's adversaries have become accustomed to blowing the horns of deception, realizing that its steadfast position exposes the negligence of others.
Those who reflect on Saudi Arabia's path will find that it has not treated Palestine merely as a political issue, but as a religious and Arab duty. Just as Mecca and Medina are a trust upon its shoulders, Jerusalem is part of the nation's message that cannot be separated. The leaders of the Kingdom, throughout different eras, have expressed this clear vision: there is no peace without the rights of Palestinians, and there is no stability without the return of the land to its people, or a resolution of the conflict through a complete separation of the two states, with East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine.
In summary, every Arab Muslim possesses the wisdom and insight to understand that the wisdom behind the association of these three blessed places – Mecca, Medina, and Jerusalem – is to keep Muslims aware that their spiritual unity precedes their political unity, and that neglecting one of them undermines the others. From here, the sincerity of the Saudi role is evident; it understands that its religious status obliges it to be a protective shield for Jerusalem and its people, no matter how much the horns of distortion try to mix truth with falsehood.
