There are sentences that become a brief response to those who disagree with you in direction, and although that response is weak, artistic or political stimulants keep that response alive, not dead, while the truth is that it is a dead response in itself..
Yesterday, I watched the play (The Village of Tishreen); written by the great poet Muhammad Al-Maghout, directed by and starring the talented actor Dureid Lahham. This play achieved great success, and I now see that its success was in the noise of the prevailing dictatorship during that time, not only in Syria but also in the Arab regimes that had a dark hue regarding the expression of what was boiling in people's hearts. What caught my attention in the play was the repetition of the phrase: "the garbage dump of history," a phrase that reality has disproved, as history does not have a garbage dump; everything that has happened and is happening will enter into the folds of history as a contributing event in building the records of history. It seems that the phrase "the garbage dump of history" was marketed by the Bolsheviks at their second conference in response to the withdrawal of their opponents, when Trotsky exclaimed: "You are miserable isolated people! You are bankrupt. Your role is over. Go to where you belong from now on; you are in the garbage dump of history."
It was also later used by U.S. President Reagan when he said in his speech: "Freedom and democracy will replace Marxism and Leninism, which will go to the garbage dump of history," and it was also used by Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi directing his speech to the countries that attacked Libya when implementing the no-fly zone decision, when he delivered his fiery speech: "It is aggression... by a group of fascists who will end up in the garbage dump of history."..
This garbage dump did not appear until very late; before the Bolshevik Revolution, history did not have a garbage dump, and we did not hear that history cleaned its rooms or halls or the fields of its wars or the biographies of its symbols. Yes, everything that has passed is a result of everyone's participation in making historical events.
And we are now the heirs of human history from the very beginning; we must not believe that history has a garbage dump, and if this tool were available to it, it is certain that the building of historical events was constructed on a hill of garbage dumps!.
