Killing journalists will not be Israel's greatest crime, for those who kill children, women, and unarmed civilians will not hesitate to kill journalists who expose their crimes!
Israel kills journalists and then accuses them of being terrorists, knowing full well that no one will scrutinize the credibility of its accusations, nor will anyone seek justice, and no condemnation will go beyond statements that evaporate before the ink dries!
***
The journalist has always been, and will remain, the strongest and weakest soldier in the battle; his weapon is a microphone and a lens, and perhaps a protective vest bearing a logo that warns he is a journalist. Yet neither the vest shields him from death, nor does the logo protect him from being targeted; in fact, it may be a mark of the target... a moving target at all times wherever he is, and he is the weakest link in the arenas of corruption, crime, and wars!
***
Politicians have always considered journalists as enemies, or at the very least, friends to be wary of. Some believe that the role of journalism is to serve the political agenda and enhance its influence over the public. In the gardens of journalism, flowering plants grow, as do harmful weeds and thorns; just as there are professional journalists practicing their craft, there are also corrupt journalists who satisfy the appetite for corruption by manipulating public opinion and distorting the truth!
It is a field where prey can easily be hunted, and a market where buying and selling thrive!
***
The worst type of journalist is the mercenary journalist who has the appetite of the corrupt politician; their ambitions go beyond their profession, and their goals exceed their phrases, and they do not practice corruption as much as they scatter its seeds in every direction!
***
Journalism remains the profession of the honorable and those with pure consciences, targeted by killers, while the corrupt wear its cloak!
