At the beginning of his arrival at the White House, and even before that, President Donald Trump confirmed that if he were in power, what happened in Gaza would not have occurred, and the war would not have reached the catastrophic level it has. Here we are in the eighth month of his second term, which he pledged would be a deterrent to wars and a foundation for peace, yet Israel continues its arrogance and hubris in Gaza, obstructing any gesture towards calm and saving what can be saved, culminating in its recent announcement of its cabinet's decision to seize Gaza by force and impose a de facto authority over it.
We can say that Benjamin Netanyahu enjoys a great deal of freedom since President Trump took office, the freedom to make decisions that shock all international laws and humanitarian law, as well as the red lines in wars. President Trump, if he does not support Netanyahu's decisions, turns a blind eye to them, which implies tacit approval. Recently, when asked about Netanyahu's decision to seize Gaza, his response was that Netanyahu knows what he is doing, so what kind of euphoria, arrogance, confidence, and excessive hubris will he feel when he hears this praise from the master of the White House and the leader of the most powerful country in the world.
Israel is experiencing its worst situation in front of global public opinion and many countries around the world, some of which we did not expect to take such a morally courageous stance and use clear language in condemning its actions. Israel has left no room for accepting its false narrative in the international community and among many of the world's peoples, because the level of atrocity it has reached cannot be silenced by any living conscience. Britain, from which the Balfour Declaration emerged, has stated that it will recognize the State of Palestine, as has France. Germany has reconsidered its arms sales to Israel due to the embarrassment it feels as a partner in the genocide, and many countries in both the East and West have begun to announce their condemnation of Israel's brutality and their demand to end the war in Gaza, as well as their readiness to recognize the rights of Palestinians to establish their state. However, all of this will not have a significant enough impact to deter Netanyahu, as long as he still sees the green light from the White House continuing.
