The newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reported a painful story that embodies the tragedy of contemporary man, whose values have been lost and whose emotions have been commodified amidst the hustle of civilization and the corridors of artificial intelligence, to the point where his filtered image is more present than his real one.
He lives in a strange era, where priorities have changed, feelings have been replaced, and images have become distorted.
The Chinese platform "WeChat" showed customers hugging llamas, turtles, and deer, as well as lion cubs, in a restaurant (Wanhui) in Taiwan, which sells tickets daily to customers eager to hug animals as an added activity to the menu.
This service raised serious concerns about its legal status and the condition of the animals, and it was deemed a dangerous phenomenon inappropriate for mute animals, with humans borrowing from Al-Mutanabbi's words:
He who has reason suffers in bliss with his mind
And the ignorant brother enjoys in misery
Previously, a hotel in the same Chinese province invented a service to wake guests using red pandas, climbing on beds and playing with guests while rubbing against them.
Instead of a bright smiling face with sleepy eyes caressed by slumber and tangled hair that one tries to untangle with honeyed fingers, and a fragrance mixed with the scent of dew.
This indicates the death of natural instincts in humans and the loss of the innate affection that the Creator instilled in their makeup,
For the embrace is no longer an act of love, where time stops for a moment to feel tranquility and peace, and it is the place we resort to feel warmth and safety.
The teacher of humanity, the good one, is frightened and afraid, and the messenger of heaven learns the Quran and seeks the embrace of Khadijah, asking for serenity and tenderness until his soul calms and rests.
The embrace is the most beautiful gift for those we love, a silent language that transcends words, making a person feel comfortable, a refuge in times of hardship, and a source of joy. Crying in the embrace of those we love is a thousand times more sincere than in the embrace of an animal.
The embrace helps release happiness hormones like oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin, contributes to reducing stress, anxiety, depression, and psychological disorders, and enhances the feeling of safety; it is a universal language for expressing love, happiness, and even sadness.
American doctor Virginia Satir confirms that we need four hugs a day to survive, eight hugs a day to heal our pains, and twelve hugs a day for growth and reproduction.
Today, hugging and other human emotions have become a tourist commodity requested alongside the menu items, like appetizers and drinks. What a decline is this? And what dead feeling drives a person to beg for the embrace of a mute animal in the market of false emotions?!
Shawqi says:
I did not know the sweetness of the embrace in love
Until my arms were gentle and wrapped around you
And your curves nestled in my hands
And your cheeks turned red from their modesty
And I entered into two nights: your branch and the darkness
And I kissed your lips like the illuminating dawn
O children of Adam, the embrace is not a luxury; it is the highest language of the body, a silent prayer performed with open arms, and a tranquility poured without words.
Contemplate the embrace painting by Polish artist Bieszynski, which embodies the magnificent eternal embrace between a man and a woman, a fusion that transcends the consideration of time, granting beauty its true nature, affirming the idea that we are "together," and that the world, despite its harshness, still holds some warmth.
But to embrace an animal or a monkey that wakes you from your sleep is contrary to sound human nature; relationships have become superficial, emotions virtual, and tenderness borrowed.
We have started to embrace what resembles tenderness, not from those who carry it; we buy emotions instead of giving them. What we see today of hugging animals, marrying cats, accompanying dogs, and raising wild animals is not tenderness but a farcical play, love without depth, tenderness without reality, and counterfeit warmth that has lost us the concepts of love and sacrifice. Tenderness is no longer seen in a mother's heart, nor safety found in a father's hand, nor patience in the embrace of a spouse or beloved.
O human, before you embrace an animal, try to embrace your heart. Before you pay for tenderness, try to give it freely to those around you.
The moon says, may God have mercy on him:
A burning ember I hold in my hands
I hold it tightly
O father of warmth, even if my hands burn
And I desire to travel through the night
I am cold, please, I want to burn with warmth
For your eyes are tenderness... in your eyes is exile
I came to you from the storm; my eyelids are the rain and fire
A burning ember I hold tightly.
