The politician is a person who has engaged, officially or informally, in serving the public affairs of their country, through their affiliation with a specific party or political orientation... or by working (either appointed or elected) as a deputy in their country's parliament, or as a member of the executive authority (minister, or similar) or as a judge in the highest judicial authority. The politician who is currently in office participates in the public administration of their country, positively and negatively. It is a great honor, if the person deserves this position and is sincere in fulfilling their duties. The seriousness and importance of the position increase the closer it is to the decision-making center.
It goes without saying that one of the most important tasks of any politician, especially first-degree politicians, if we may say so, is: to maintain the survival of the state, its independence, its peace, and the integrity of its territories, to preserve security and order, and to support prosperity within it.
For first-degree politicians, one of their most important tasks is to avoid conflicts and wars, and not to engage in any war unless it is defensive. When evaluating politicians, the first thing to consider is their mastery of diplomacy and their ability to avoid conflicts and wars whenever possible.

Dedicated and skilled politicians usually adopt (for the benefit of their countries) positive policies and decisions. In contrast, unskilled politicians tend to adopt negative policies and decisions. It is well-known that "politics" (decisions and policies) can be divided into positive and negative. Politics, thus, builds and destroys. It is something that must exist in all circumstances and in any society; otherwise, chaos will ensue, and the powerful will prey on the weak.
Politics is most embodied in "government." To understand the importance of politics, let us imagine a society without a government! It is well-known that democracy is meant to be applied "within" societies. As for "outside" societies, "the law of the jungle" often prevails. In international relations, the strong usually dominate the weak.
Plato's Republic (or Plato's Utopia) cannot be realized in reality. If it were realized, it would carry within it the seeds of its rapid demise; due to the tendency of "rulers" (the scholars) towards tyranny, as Aristotle, Plato's most prominent student, noted.

Volodymyr Zelensky was born in 1978 to Jewish parents. He is married and has two sons. He is an actor, comedian, and Ukrainian politician. He studied law and obtained a degree in it, but he turned to acting and then to politics. He grew up speaking Russian, in addition to Ukrainian. Zelensky ran for the presidency under the "Servant of the People" party, defeating his opponent Petro Poroshenko, and took office as President of Ukraine in May 2019, promising his people to fight corruption and end the conflict in Eastern Ukraine with Russia. Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 23, 2023, he has become one of the most famous politicians in the world and one of the most present in the media.

If we try to "evaluate" this famous politician by a single criterion, which is: how much he has spared his country from conflicts and wars, we find that he has not succeeded, at first glance. This president, who promised his people to end the conflict with Russia in Eastern Ukraine, caused Russia to invade his country and the loss of five eastern Ukrainian regions, in addition to the continued loss of Crimea. Not only that, but he also dragged his country into a war for which he is not qualified to fight. Or, as President Trump told him: "You will not win this war. You should accept a ceasefire." His obstinacy led to the destruction of a large part of his country.
Since taking office, he has provoked his large neighbor Russia by insisting on joining NATO and the European Union, and by opening his country to the West to establish arms factories in Ukraine and paving the way for the establishment of Western military bases in Ukraine, on Russia's borders. It is well-known that Ukraine is the closest region to Russia, geographically, historically, and socially. A large part of its population is Russian. Therefore, the presence of NATO and American military bases on Russia's borders, near its heartland, is considered a serious threat to Russian national security. For this reason, Russia decided to prevent all of this and initiated the invasion of Ukraine.
The increased Western intervention, strongly supporting Ukraine and supplying it with weapons, exacerbated the tragedy in his country. Ukraine began to "fight," and Russia retaliated in kind. Zelensky continues to urge the West to keep supplying him with weapons, so that the war continues, mostly on Ukrainian soil, and its destruction continues. His insistence on joining NATO has increased, and Russian resentment has escalated. Zelensky went on an official visit to America and met President Donald Trump in the famous meeting, part of which the world witnessed live.
Zelensky was demanding that America continue to supply him with weapons, but Trump responded with refusal, expressing astonishment at his insistence on continuing the war and not accepting a ceasefire, and he gave him and his vice president a lesson in the necessity of calculating the benefits and losses present in every situation. Trump reminded him that Ukraine's joining NATO would mean dragging the alliance into a (nuclear world) war... for which Zelensky would be the direct cause of its outbreak. Simply put, because the alliance is committed to defending any member state if it is attacked. Zelensky left the "White House" empty-handed.
****
Zelensky should have refrained from working towards his country's NATO membership and should have negotiated with the Russians for a lasting peace, especially since most of the residents of the areas that the Russians seized in Eastern Ukraine are Russian. To spare his country destruction, the loss of thousands of Ukrainians, both civilians and military, and the loss of about half of his country's wealth in minerals..! It would have been better for him to declare his country's commitment, due to its strategic position, to neutrality.
Under American and international pressures, Zelensky responded to the peace advocates, accepted a ceasefire, and entered into arduous negotiations with the Russians, which did not respect the ceasefire. It is difficult to predict their outcome.
