It is not difficult to count the gains and losses of the two sides in the 12-day war, and it is certain that decades spent investing in dominance projects and building destructive arsenals were folded in just 12 days, while the region could have invested them in building bridges of peace and prosperity for construction and development!
The region now has an opportunity to achieve peace after the populist tide of hollow slogans has receded, and the influence and impact of the tools driving it have diminished. However, the obstacle has never been solely in the radical regimes and their empty slogans; rather, Israel needs to realize that peace will not be achieved without acknowledging the rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of a Palestinian state where Palestinians can live in security, peace, and dignity!
Just as dominance and expansion projects fall before justice, no matter how long it takes, peace cannot be built without achieving justice, and insisting on building it through force and on the foundations of injustice has not guaranteed it lasting stability. Moreover, the oppression and killing that Israel has exercised against generations of Palestinians since its establishment have not provided it with the security it seeks!
The region has witnessed many wars, and its peoples have suffered through successive generations from the adventures and mistakes of successive radical regimes, and the brutality of occupation, all of which have only led to more destruction without achieving any goals or objectives, because what is built on injustice and aggression cannot endure. Power - as events in the last two years have proven - is not sustainable, and when the winds of change blow, they are stormy and uproot trees no matter how stable they seem!
There must be a benefit from the experience of the Gulf Arab states in investing in peace and the future, harnessing wealth for development, construction, and prosperity, an experience that these countries have worked to share with their neighbors. However, there are those who have insisted for many years on squandering their national wealth in wars and repression, investing in the trade of failing slogans, and counterfeit goods that sell defeats as if they were victories!
In short, we are today facing a precious opportunity to achieve peace and make the Middle East a garden of economic prosperity with its promising opportunities and enormous potential!
