Before the anticipated round of negotiations, Israel launched its attack on Iran, and before the end of the two-week period set by President Trump, America attacked all the main nuclear facilities. Here arises the question: Was there any chance to avoid the two attacks by holding the previous round of negotiations, or perhaps one day before the end of the two-week deadline?
The answer is: No. What happened was planned long ago, and the subject of negotiations and the deadline was merely a tactic to gain the element of surprise. Neither the Israeli attack nor the American strike is a decision that can be made as a last-minute reaction; coordination between the Israeli and American sides has been in place for months, as the news reported. President Trump had placed the Iranian nuclear project on his agenda since entering the White House and clearly stated that it must stop. Iran miscalculated this time with Trump in his second term, and what happened, happened.
Now, Israel feels the exhilaration of achieving a long-desired strategic goal, and Trump has proven that his seriousness should not be underestimated. But what will happen after the serious escalation that occurred yesterday morning? The strike was very painful for Iran, and it launched a qualitative attack immediately after hitting its reactors, causing significant destruction at the targeted sites. Additionally, Israel resumed its offensive operations against Iran. Will both sides enter what resembles a war of attrition, or will President Trump carry out his threat, which he mentioned in his speech after the reactor strikes, that if Iran does not accept the situation, there will be tragic events?
The situation is extremely dangerous, and this accelerating escalation must not continue. Our region is directly affected, along with the entire world in terms of economy, security, and peace. All parties involved in the war must exercise reason, especially America. Stubbornness in positions will lead to an unprecedented real disaster, and it is essential to listen to the voices of countries calling for solving problems through diplomacy and peaceful solutions, respecting their positions and interests. The longer peace is delayed, the harder it becomes to achieve.
