As the upcoming Hajj season approaches, the eyes of the world turn to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which has proven year after year its leadership in serving the guests of Allah. Tremendous efforts are being made in every corner of the holy sites to ensure a safe, organized, and dignified Hajj... Here, the role of Saudi media emerges as a fundamental element in documenting this exceptional spiritual moment and conveying a commendable image of the services and capabilities that have been harnessed to serve the pilgrims.
Media coverage is a national duty and a call for integration; effective media coverage of the Hajj season is not just a media task; it is a national duty and a noble message that conveys to the world the image of the Kingdom as a guardian of Islam and Muslims, and emphasizes the values of hospitality and humanity that prevail in the holy lands.
It is also, my lords, an important means to refute rumors and combat misleading campaigns that may attempt to distort the image of Hajj or exploit it politically.
In the upcoming Hajj season, the Kingdom has mobilized all its resources to serve the guests of Allah:
• Medical readiness: Field hospitals and modern medical centers spread across Mecca and the holy sites, equipped with the latest medical devices and trained personnel to address any health emergencies.
• Regulatory procedures: Strict security systems to combat infiltrators who are not authorized, and precise implementation of entry and movement instructions to protect the pilgrims and ensure smooth movement.
• Administrative readiness: Hundreds of thousands of employees and volunteers are deployed to serve the pilgrims, from reception and guidance to transportation and catering, all the way to following up on their rituals until the blessed Eid al-Adha.
These efforts need comprehensive media coverage, my Ministry of Media, that does not merely convey images but follows events moment by moment, highlights the stories of the pilgrims and their human experiences, and reveals to the world the organizational efforts of Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, coverage plays a deterrent role in exposing infiltration attempts and regulatory violations, and in showcasing the strictness in applying the law to protect the security and dignity of the pilgrims.
Today, more than ever, amidst all the pressures surrounding the country from those who plot against it, we need a national Saudi media that keeps pace with this great event using its advanced tools, with its brave field team, and with its established credibility...
Coverage that befits this unique spiritual season, and shows the entire world that the Kingdom – leadership and people – stands tirelessly and unwaveringly in service of the pilgrims, safeguarding the guests of Allah, and confronting anyone who dares to tamper with their security or the sanctity of their rituals.
A blessed and safe Hajj... and a vibrant Saudi media that documents the story of a nation whose motto is: Serving the pilgrims is an honor that surpasses all honors.
