Three children died, while their 14-year-old sister was injured, following a fire that broke out in their bedroom last Sunday in the Al-Matar neighborhood of Medina, due to an electrical short circuit.
Ahmad Hamad Al-Azizi, the children's uncle, recounted the details of the incident to "Okaz," expressing his sorrow and pain: "We thank God for His decree and destiny, and we say only that we belong to God and to Him we shall return." He explained that the incident occurred around 9 PM, when the children, Dana (14 years old), Ziad (11 years old), Dima (5 years old), and Abdulaziz (2 years old), were sleeping in their room, while their father and mother had gone out to visit the clinic. Neighbors noticed smoke rising from inside the apartment and reported it to the civil defense, which responded to the scene.
He added that Abdulaziz and Ziad were taken to the Children's Hospital in Medina, where they died upon arrival. Prayers were held for them, and they were buried in the Baqi' Al-Gharqad cemetery. Meanwhile, Dana and Dima were transferred to the National Guard Hospital, where Dima passed away yesterday morning. Prayers were held for her after the afternoon prayer at the Prophet's Mosque, and she was buried in the Baqi' Al-Gharqad cemetery, while Dana remains hospitalized.
Al-Azizi noted that the grieving family lost three of their children in the incident, praying to God to ease their hearts and to heal the injured child.
