On a splendid evening marked by its presence and celebration, the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council celebrated the 44th anniversary of the council's establishment the evening before last. The carefully crafted speech by Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi summarized the achievements made and the hopes that the Gulf citizens aspire to realize!
The Kuwaiti touch was present in the musical operetta, which was presented in the presence of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, the Emir of Riyadh Region. The Kuwaitis excel in highlighting cultural identity and national spirit through artistic works. However, what distinguished the evening the most was the reminder of the council's significance and its role in achieving Gulf integration, based on a long history of relationships and bonds between the peoples and leaders of the Gulf states!
Gulf citizens possess all the elements of integration and closeness that establish solid foundations for international integration institutions like the Gulf Cooperation Council. I always reiterate that Gulf citizens have the efficiency of historical, cultural, social, economic, and developmental ties, reinforced by shared social roots, customs, traditions, challenges, and aspirations that unite the six Gulf nations, supporting their joint journey in building, development, and facing regional and international challenges and changes!
There is no doubt that the aspirations of Gulf citizens and their leaders are greater and further than what has been achieved, but we have come a long way in the journey of integration, cooperation, and solidarity. Continuing this journey is not an option or a luxury, but a necessity proven by events, even in the instances that witnessed disagreements and crises among some council countries. This served as a reminder of the need to enhance the council's role and ensure its continuity. Each time, obstacles became a starting point and motivation to move forward towards achieving the council's objectives!
In short.. Our Gulf is one, our destiny is one, our aspirations are one, our challenges are one.. and our future is one!
