The Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt has issued new decisions that include banning several individuals from appearing through various media outlets; among them is the head coach of the Egyptian national football team, Hossam Hassan, as part of efforts aimed at regulating media content and reducing the circulation of personal disputes and issues on different platforms.
The council confirmed that these measures are part of a direction aimed at enhancing the awareness role of media and moving away from turning it into arenas for discussing family disputes and personal matters of citizens, in accordance with the professional and ethical standards governing media work.
The decisions also included summoning the legal representatives of several websites for hearings due to violations observed by the council, in addition to confirming the continued ban on the media appearance of Ms. (Dan Adam), with a warning of taking more stringent legal actions if the facts subject to the decisions are repeated in publication or circulation.
The council, chaired by Engineer Khaled Abdelaziz, emphasized the importance of providing a stable environment for the national team's technical staff away from any media tensions that may affect the progress of sports work, affirming that media institutions are required to adhere to the professional standards governing published and broadcast content.
These measures are based on the provisions of Law No. 180 of 2018 regulating press and media, which grants the council supervisory and regulatory powers over various media outlets, including newspapers, digital platforms, and television channels, with the possibility of applying graduated penalties starting from fines and potentially leading to a ban on media appearances or taking actions against the violating parties.
