Bangladesh recorded 173 deaths from dengue fever in the current month of October, the highest monthly death toll for the year.
Data from the Ministry of Health in Bangladesh showed that the outbreak has claimed the lives of 418 people and caused over 133,000 hospitalizations this year up to October 30.
The outbreak coincided with the spread of measles, which has resulted in the deaths of more than 1,200 people, increasing pressure on the healthcare system.
Several experts expect the transmission of dengue fever to continue throughout November, with no significant improvement expected before December, due to the ongoing breeding of the disease-carrying mosquitoes, driven by water accumulation and changing patterns of rainfall and humidity.
