Cancer has knocked on the door of the child Zain's family once again, after many years of resilience and victories achieved by the most famous child in the battle against the disease. Zain's mother, Radwa Moussa, announced that her husband, Tamer, has been diagnosed with aggressive cancer in an advanced stage, in a surprise that has brought the family back into the circle of pain they thought they had overcome.
The mother revealed through her (Facebook) account the details of the harsh moment they discovered the illness, confirming that it came purely by chance without any prior symptoms, leaving the family facing a new test after Zain had fought bitter battles that ended in his victory over cancer four times. Radwa wrote words mixed with shock and faith: “I am hoping for Your generosity, O Lord, and I am content with Your decree... I never imagined I would be writing this again.”
The mother recounts that the diagnosis revealed widespread cancer, describing those days as “indescribable nights,” filled with confusion, fear, and exhaustion. However, she affirmed that the family chose to cling to their old weapon: prayer and faith. She urged Zain's supporters to pray for her husband, stating that prayer was their light in the darkest moments, and they believe in its power to change fate.
This family's story goes back to Zain's inspiring journey that began in 2013, when he was diagnosed with stage four stem cell cancer at the age of six, leading him to undergo a long series of chemotherapy, radiation treatments, and complex surgeries, before recovering four times and continuing his normal life, even earning a black belt in taekwondo.
Zain's story turned into a symbol of hope after his moving appearance in a Ramadan advertisement in 2018, and then standing on the stage of the World Youth Forum in 2019 in front of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who shook his hand and embraced him amidst the applause of thousands in attendance, in a moment that has been immortalized as one of the most prominent scenes of humanitarian support.
Today, the family finds itself facing a new chapter of trial, but they affirm that they will continue on the same path that Zain walked: faith, patience, and prayer.
