كشفت رائحة كريهة انبعثت من شقة سكنية في الفلبين واقعة أثارت شبهات جنائية، بعدما عثرت الشرطة على جثة امرأة مخبأة داخل ثلاجة، فيما تتجه التحقيقات نحو شريكها وسط احتمال وجود خلاف مالي وراء الجريمة.
وبدأت تفاصيل الواقعة في بلدية رودريغيز، بعدما لاحظ مالك العقار رائحة غير معتادة تصدر من إحدى الشقق، فأبلغ السلطات التي انتقلت إلى المكان وعثرت على جثة امرأة داخل الثلاجة، وفق ما أوردته وسائل إعلام فلبينية.
وكان مالك العقار قد حاول في 10 سبتمبر التواصل مع مستأجري الشقة لمطالبتهم باستكمال توقيع عقد الإيجار، لكنه لم يتلق أي رد.
في البداية، لم تتمكن الشرطة من تحديد هوية الضحية، فنشرت صورتها وأوصافًا لملامحها عبر حساب شرطة رودريغيز على «فيسبوك»، مشيرة إلى أن عمرها يُقدّر بين 25 و30 عامًا، ودعت الجمهور إلى المساعدة في التعرف إليها.
وبعد تداول الصورة، تمكن والد المرأة من التعرف إلى ابنته، بحسب ما نقلته وسائل إعلام محلية، من بينها «ABS-CBN». ولم تكشف السلطات اسم الضحية حتى الآن.
شريك الضحية قيد الاحتجاز
مع تقدم التحقيق، ركزت الشرطة على شريك المرأة، الذي وصفته في البداية بأنه «شخص محل اهتمام»، قبل أن تتزايد الشبهات حول صلته بالواقعة.
وقال المتحدث باسم الشرطة الوطنية الفلبينية العقيد ألين راي كو، خلال مؤتمر صحفي، إن الرجل محتجز بالفعل على خلفية قضية أخرى، موضحًا أن بحقه مذكرة توقيف بتهمة الاحتجاز غير القانوني الخطير.
وأفادت الشرطة بأن الضحية كانت تواجه بدورها قضية مماثلة، وكانت قد خرجت بكفالة قبل وفاتها.
وتبحث السلطات في احتمال ارتباط الجريمة بخلاف مالي، بعدما قال والد الضحية إنها كانت بحوزتها كمية كبيرة من المال قبل وفاتها. وأوضح كو أن هذه المعلومة دفعت المحققين إلى بحث فرضية نشوب شجار على خلفية مالية، مع التأكيد على أن الدافع لم يُحسم بعد.
اشتباه في الخنق
وأظهرت المعاينة الأولية، وفق ما نقلته صحيفة «فيلستار»، وجود آثار يُشتبه في أنها ناجمة عن الخنق على جسد الضحية.
وقدرت السلطات أن الوفاة وقعت قبل نحو 6 إلى 7 أيام من العثور على الجثة.
كما تحقق الشرطة في سبب وضع الجثة داخل الثلاجة، مع بحث احتمال أن يكون ذلك بهدف إبطاء تحللها وتأخير اكتشافها.
وتواصل السلطات جمع الأدلة لتحديد ملابسات الوفاة وتسلسل الأحداث، في وقت لم تعلن فيه حتى الآن توجيه اتهام نهائي إلى المشتبه به في قضية وفاة المرأة.
A foul smell emanating from an apartment in the Philippines revealed a case that raised criminal suspicions, after the police found a woman's body hidden inside a refrigerator, while investigations are focusing on her partner amid the possibility of a financial dispute behind the crime.
The details of the incident began in Rodriguez municipality, after the property owner noticed an unusual smell coming from one of the apartments, so he informed the authorities who arrived at the scene and found a woman's body inside the refrigerator, according to reports from Philippine media.
The property owner had attempted to contact the apartment's tenants on September 10 to ask them to complete the signing of the lease agreement, but he received no response.
Initially, the police were unable to identify the victim, so they published her photo and descriptions of her features via the Rodriguez police account on "Facebook," indicating that her age is estimated to be between 25 and 30 years, and they called on the public to help identify her.
After the photo circulated, the woman's father was able to recognize his daughter, according to local media reports, including "ABS-CBN." Authorities have not yet disclosed the victim's name.
The victim's partner is in custody
As the investigation progressed, the police focused on the woman's partner, who was initially described as a "person of interest," before suspicions grew regarding his connection to the incident.
Philippine National Police spokesperson Colonel Allen Ray Koa stated during a press conference that the man is already in custody in connection with another case, explaining that there is an arrest warrant against him for serious illegal detention.
The police reported that the victim was also facing a similar case and had been released on bail before her death.
Authorities are investigating the possibility that the crime is linked to a financial dispute, after the victim's father said she had a large amount of money with her before her death. Koa clarified that this information led investigators to explore the hypothesis of a quarrel over financial matters, while emphasizing that the motive has not yet been determined.
Suspected strangulation
The initial examination, according to the "Philstar" newspaper, showed signs suspected to be caused by strangulation on the victim's body.
Authorities estimated that the death occurred about 6 to 7 days before the body was discovered.
The police are also investigating the reason for placing the body inside the refrigerator, considering the possibility that it was done to slow down decomposition and delay its discovery.
Authorities continue to collect evidence to determine the circumstances of the death and the sequence of events, while no final charges have yet been announced against the suspect in the woman's death case.
