A Korean content creator did not expect that a spontaneous mistake in pronouncing the name of a global brand valued at billions of dollars would turn into one of the smartest marketing campaigns of the year within hours.
The story began with an ordinary video posted by the blogger while she was talking about a famous skincare product. Because the Korean language completely lacks the sound of the letter (V), she pronounced the name as "Baizelin" (Baseline) instead of "Vaseline." Within days, the video garnered millions of views, and her spontaneous pronunciation became a trending topic among followers.
Instead of ignoring the video or issuing a traditional correction, the company's marketing team cleverly seized the moment, as the official account of "Vaseline India" quickly commented on the video: "The name Vaseline has never sounded so wonderful and iconic before... You are the queen!"
The astonishment did not stop at interactive friendliness; the company's official page surprised millions of followers by officially changing the account name and bio to match the spontaneous Korean pronunciation "Baseline."
The bold move received widespread praise from digital media experts and was considered a practical lesson in how major brands can abandon their dry formality and seize the spontaneity of the audience to achieve a trendy, cross-border reach.
