In a provocative move reminiscent of a judicial coup in the tech world, the iconic brand "Twitter" and the blue bird logo have come back to life with the launch of a new social platform called "Twitter.now," despite Elon Musk's objections and his desperate attempts to bury the old identity in favor of his "X" empire.
The behind-the-scenes action began when "Operation Bluebird" exploited a legal loophole based on a preliminary opinion issued by federal judge Colm Connolly, who hinted that "X" had neglected and effectively forfeited its intellectual property rights to the names "Twitter" and "Tweet" and the historic logo after Musk insisted on changing the identity in 2023.
The new platform is led by Twitter's former legal counsel, Stephen Kouts, and reintroduces the classic experience of the old site with a mimicking design that allows for tweets and interactions, but it adds a distinguishing feature in the form of a "real-time information verification engine" powered by the AI "Gemini" to scrutinize every post and combat misinformation.
Despite "X's" legal attempts to prevent the project's launch, the platform's operators considered the judge's opinion a green light to proceed, clearly announcing on their site: "We are not X and we do not belong to it; rather, we are rebuilding the public space on the basis of trust." This bold step marks the beginning of a major and fierce legal battle with Musk to reclaim one of the most famous brands in internet history.
