بعد مفاوضات لم تدم طويلًا من قبل شركة نادي الهلال وصل المهاجم الدولي الإنجليزي "أولي واتكينز" إلى العاصمة (الرياض) اليوم (الجمعة)، تمهيدًا لإتمام تعاقده بشكل رسمي مع "الزعيم" قادمًا من صفوف نادي أستون فيلا الإنجليزي.
وسبق أن نشرت شبكة "سكاي سبورتس" أن نادي أستون فيلا وافق على بيع واتكينز إلى الهلال مقابل 50 مليون جنيه إسترليني.
فيما أشارت تقارير صحفية في وقت سابق أن المهاجم الإنجليزي سيحصل على راتب سنوي يبلغ 15 مليون دولار.
وتأتي الصفقة في إطار تحركات إدارة النادي لتعزيز خط المقدمة، خصوصًا مع الأنباء الاعلامية المقربة من البيت الأزرق حول رحيل "الحكومة" المهاجم الفرنسي كريم بنزيما بصفة رسمية.
ويأتي اختيار المدير الفني إنزاغي للمهاجم الإنجليزي أولي الذي يعد أحد أبرز المهاجمين في السنوات الأخيرة.
ويبلغ أولي واتكينز من العمر 30 عامًا، وهو من مواليد ديفون، ويجيد اللعب في مركز رأس الحربة، كما يستطيع التحرك على الأطراف واستغلال المساحات خلف المدافعين.
بدأ واتكينز مسيرته في أكاديمية إكستر سيتي، قبل أن يخوض تجربة قصيرة مع وستون سوبر مير، ثم عاد إلى إكستر ولفت الأنظار بتسجيله وصناعته للأهداف، لينتقل بعدها إلى برينتفورد عام 2017.
وفي عام 2020، انتقل إلى أستون فيلا مقابل نحو 28 مليون جنيه إسترليني، ليصبح أحد أهم العناصر الهجومية في الفريق، وواصل تسجيل الأهداف في الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز، كما حصل على فرصة تمثيل المنتخب الإنجليزي.
وعلى المستوى الدولي، ارتدى واتكينز قميص منتخب إنجلترا، وسجل 7 أهداف في 22 مباراة دولية وفق بيانات موسم 2026-2027.
