في حادثة أثارت غضباً عارماً وشكلت صدمة في العراق، فتحت وزارة العدل العراقية ملفاً شائكاً طالما طُوِي خلف الأسوار مغلقاً، وذلك عقب انتفاضة أهالي النزلاء في احتجاجات حاشدة وسط بغداد، كشفت عن استغلال مالي بشع وأرقام فلكية لأسعار الأطعمة والمواد الأساسية داخل حوانيت السجون.

أمام هذه الاتهامات الصادمة التي أحدثت ضجة عارمة على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي، سارع وزير العدل العراقي خالد شواني بإصدار توجيهات حاسمة ومشددة، إذ أمهل لجنة تحقيق متخصصة 72 ساعة فقط للنزول الميداني وتدقيق أسعار جميع الحوانيت في كافة المؤسسات الإصلاحية ومقارنتها مباشرة بأسعار السوق المحلية.
ويهدف القرار الوزاري الحاسم إلى وضع حد للشكاوى المتزايدة، وقطع الشك باليقين حول مدى صحة الأرقام المتداولة، مع التوعد باتخاذ أقصى الإجراءات الإدارية والقانونية بحق المتورطين والمشرفين على إدارة هذه الحوانيت في حال ثبوت تلك المخالفات.
وسلطت الاحتجاجات الأخيرة الضوء على المعاناة اليومية التي تكابدها أسر النزلاء، التي أصبحت تتحمل أعباءً مالية باهظة تُثقل كاهلها لتأمين حد أدنى من العيش الآدمي لأبنائها خلف الأسوار، في ظل ما وصفوه بـ«تجارة صريحة في حاجات السجناء».
ورغم أن وزارة العدل العراقية لم تؤكد بعد القيمة الفعلية للأسعار المذكورة انتظاراً لما سيكشفه التقرير الرسمي، إلا أن السقف الزمني المتمثل بـ72 ساعة وضع الجميع تحت مقصلة التحقيق، لتتجه الأنظار نحو نتائج التقرير المرتقب الذي سيحسم حقيقة «كيلو اللحم الخرافي» ويحدد المسؤولين عن هذا الاستغلال.

The spark was ignited by painful and live testimonies given by the families of prisoners to local media, where they confirmed that their children are forced to buy basic necessities at exorbitant prices that bear no relation to reality, as the price of one kilogram of meat inside the prison reached 100,000 Iraqi dinars (about 76 dollars), while a regular bottle of oil jumped to 15,000 dinars, in a display of exploitation stripped of any humanity.
In light of these shocking accusations that caused a massive uproar on social media platforms, Iraqi Minister of Justice Khaled Shwani quickly issued decisive and strict directives, giving a specialized investigation committee only 72 hours to conduct field visits and verify the prices of all shops in all correctional institutions and directly compare them to local market prices.
The decisive ministerial decision aims to put an end to the increasing complaints and to clarify the accuracy of the circulated figures, with a promise to take the strictest administrative and legal measures against those involved and supervising the management of these shops if such violations are proven.
The recent protests highlighted the daily suffering endured by the families of inmates, who have become burdened with exorbitant financial burdens to secure a minimum standard of humane living for their children behind bars, in light of what they described as "blatant trade in the needs of prisoners."
Although the Iraqi Ministry of Justice has not yet confirmed the actual value of the mentioned prices pending what the official report will reveal, the 72-hour timeframe has placed everyone under the guillotine of investigation, directing attention towards the anticipated report results that will determine the truth about the "astronomical kilogram of meat" and identify those responsible for this exploitation.
