أثار الاعتداء على واحدة من أقدم أشجار البلوط في إقليم كردستان العراق موجة من الاستياء، بعدما تعرضت الشجرة المعمرة، التي يعود عمرها إلى نحو أربعة قرون، للتخريب في حادثة دفعت السلطات إلى فتح تحقيق لكشف ملابساتها وحماية هذا الإرث الطبيعي النادر.
وأعلنت مديرية الغابات والبيئة في محافظة السليمانية أن شرطة الغابات والبيئة في ناحية عربت تلقت بلاغًا يفيد بتعرض أحد أغصان شجرة بلوط أثرية في قرية داربڕوو للكسر، لتباشر الجهات المختصة اتخاذ الإجراءات القانونية اللازمة فورًا.
وأوضحت المديرية، في بيان نقلته وسائل إعلام عراقية، أنها أبلغت قاضي التحقيق في قضاء شارزور بالواقعة، والذي وجّه بفتح تحقيق رسمي للوقوف على أسباب الحادثة، مع التحفظ على الغصن المكسور باعتباره جزءًا من الأدلة ضمن إجراءات التحقيق.
وأكدت أن الفرق الفنية تواصل أعمال الكشف الميداني لفحص الشجرة وتحديد ما إذا كان كسر الغصن ناتجًا عن عوامل طبيعية، مثل الرياح أو تقادم عمر الشجرة، أم أنه وقع بفعل تدخل بشري متعمد.
وتُعد شجرة البلوط من أبرز المعالم الطبيعية والتراثية في المنطقة، إذ يُقدر عمرها بنحو 400 عام، وتمثل قيمة بيئية وتاريخية كبيرة لسكان قرية داربڕوو والمناطق المجاورة، لما تحمله من رمزية وإرث يمتد عبر أجيال.
وتتولى شرطة الغابات والبيئة في السليمانية مسؤولية حماية الغابات والثروة النباتية والأشجار المعمرة، إلى جانب ملاحقة المخالفين والتصدي للاعتداءات التي تستهدف الموارد الطبيعية في الإقليم.
The attack on one of the oldest oak trees in the Kurdistan region of Iraq has sparked a wave of outrage, after the ancient tree, estimated to be around four centuries old, was vandalized in an incident that prompted authorities to open an investigation to uncover the circumstances and protect this rare natural heritage.
The Directorate of Forests and Environment in Sulaymaniyah Governorate announced that the Forests and Environment Police in the town of Arabat received a report indicating that one of the branches of an ancient oak tree in the village of Darbrou was broken, prompting the relevant authorities to take the necessary legal actions immediately.
The directorate clarified, in a statement reported by Iraqi media, that it informed the investigating judge in the Sharzor district about the incident, who ordered an official investigation to determine the reasons behind the incident, while preserving the broken branch as part of the evidence in the investigation procedures.
It confirmed that technical teams are continuing field inspections to examine the tree and determine whether the branch breakage resulted from natural factors, such as winds or the aging of the tree, or if it occurred due to deliberate human intervention.
The oak tree is considered one of the most prominent natural and heritage landmarks in the region, with an estimated age of around 400 years, representing significant environmental and historical value for the residents of the village of Darbrou and the surrounding areas, due to its symbolism and heritage that extends across generations.
The Forests and Environment Police in Sulaymaniyah are responsible for protecting forests, plant wealth, and ancient trees, in addition to pursuing violators and addressing assaults targeting natural resources in the region.
