في أعالي جبال «كاراكورام»، حيث لا مكان للخطأ وحيث تُحسم المعارك بين الإنسان والطبيعة في لحظات، طويت الصفحة الأخيرة من حياة أحد أساطير التسلق في العالم. لم تكن مجرد رحلة استكشافية أخرى، بل كانت المواجهة الأخيرة التي تحولت إلى مأساة هزت الوسط الرياضي الدولي.
نهاية مأساوية في «برود بيك»
لقي متسلق الجبال النيبالي الشهير «نيرمال بورجا»، صاحب الأرقام القياسية الشاهقة، مصرعه رفقة بعثته الدولية الكاملة إثر انهيار جليدي مروع ألمّ بهم أثناء محاولتهم قهر جبل «برود بيك» في باكستان.
مقبرة فوق السحاب
وقع الحادث الغادر على جبل «برود بيك» الذي يرتفع نحو 8047 متراً ضمن سلسلة كاراكورام، وهو الجبل الذي يحتل المرتبة الـ12 بين أعلى قمم العالم، ويُصنف كأحد أكثر الشواهق خطورة وفتكاً بالمتسلقين.
ويعيد هذا الحادث الأليم إلى الأذهان ذكريات عام 2013 الحزين عندما حصد الجبل ذاته أرواح 6 متسلقين في موسم واحد.
يُذكر أن «نيرمال بورجا» (43 عاماً) لم يكن متسلقاً ألقى بنفسه في أحضان الخطر هباءً؛ بل كان جندياً سابقاً في الجيش البريطاني منذ 2003، ونخبةً في وحدة الخدمة البحرية الخاصة (SBS) التابعة للقوات البحرية الملكية 2009، قبل أن يتفرغ لشغفه بالتسلق.
ودخل بورجا التاريخ من أوسع أبوابه عام 2019 حينما حقق إنجازاً غير مسبوق بتسلق أعلى 14 قمة في العالم خلال ستة أشهر فقط، ليُسطر اسمه كأحد أعظم المحترفين في هذه الرياضة.

A Tragic End at "Broad Peak"
The famous Nepali mountaineer "Nirmal Purja," holder of towering records, lost his life along with his entire international expedition due to a horrific avalanche that struck them while they were attempting to conquer "Broad Peak" in Pakistan.
A Grave Above the Clouds
The treacherous incident occurred on "Broad Peak," which rises about 8,047 meters within the Karakoram range, and is the 12th highest peak in the world, classified as one of the most dangerous and deadly summits for climbers.
This painful incident brings to mind the sad memories of 2013 when the same mountain claimed the lives of 6 climbers in a single season.
It is worth noting that "Nirmal Purja" (43 years old) was not a climber who recklessly threw himself into danger; he was a former soldier in the British Army since 2003 and an elite member of the Special Boat Service (SBS) of the Royal Navy in 2009, before dedicating himself to his passion for climbing.
Purja entered history in a grand way in 2019 when he achieved an unprecedented feat by climbing the highest 14 peaks in the world in just six months, etching his name as one of the greatest professionals in this sport.
