قد يبدو الوصول إلى بيانات نجوم هوليوود مهمة مستحيلة، لكن خطأ أمنياً واحداً كان كفيلاً بكشف معلومات حساسة تخص عدداً من أشهر الأسماء في صناعة السينما، في واقعة أثارت مخاوف واسعة بشأن حماية البيانات الشخصية حتى داخل أكبر الفعاليات العالمية.
وكشف باحث في الأمن السيبراني عن تسريب بيانات ضخم مرتبط بمهرجان «تريبيكا» السينمائي في مدينة نيويورك، شمل معلومات اتصال وبيانات تقنية تخص عدداً من نجوم هوليوود والمخرجين العالميين، بينهم أنجلينا جولي، وروبرت دي نيرو، ورامي مالك، وشارون ستون.
وأوضح الباحث أنه عثر على قواعد بيانات غير مؤمنة تضم أكثر من 666 ألف ملف تابع للمهرجان. ورغم أن معظمها احتوى على بيانات صحفية وجداول للعروض السينمائية، فإن أحد الملفات الاحتياطية كشف عن آلاف عناوين البريد الإلكتروني وأرقام الهواتف الخاصة بعدد من الشخصيات البارزة.
وشملت البيانات أسماءً معروفة، من بينها مايكل دوغلاس، ونيل باتريك هاريس، إلى جانب المخرجين مارتن سكورسيزي، وداني بويل، وجورج لوكاس.
وبحسب المعلومات المتاحة، فإن جزءاً كبيراً من البيانات يعود إلى وكلاء ومديري أعمال الفنانين، إلا أن الباحث أكد أيضاً وجود عناوين بريد إلكتروني شخصية، إضافة إلى بيانات تقنية للأجهزة المستخدمة في تسجيل الدخول، مثل أنواع الهواتف، وأنظمة التشغيل، والمتصفحات، وهي معلومات قد تساعد المهاجمين على تنفيذ هجمات أكثر دقة.
وحذر من أن هذه البيانات يمكن استغلالها في هجمات انتحال الهوية، عبر إنشاء رسائل بريد إلكتروني تبدو موثوقة من خلال تغيير بسيط في عنوان المرسل، ثم إرسال ملفات أو روابط خبيثة إلى المشاهير أو المقربين منهم، مشيراً إلى أن أساليب الهجمات الإلكترونية أصبحت أكثر تطوراً خلال السنوات الأخيرة.
وأضاف أنه أبلغ الجهة المنظمة للمهرجان بالثغرة الأمنية قبل أيام من انطلاق الفعاليات، لافتاً إلى أن الاستجابة كانت سريعة، إذ أُغلقت قواعد البيانات المكشوفة في اليوم نفسه.
وأشار أيضاً إلى أنه لم يقم بتنزيل أي من الملفات، ولم تتوفر أدلة على وصول جهات خبيثة إليها، موضحاً أن البيانات الحساسة كانت مخزنة داخل ملفات احتياطية غير معنونة، وهو ما قد يكون حدّ من احتمالات اكتشافها.
وفي ختام تصريحاته، دعا الباحث المؤسسات إلى تعزيز إجراءات الأمن السيبراني، من خلال فصل النسخ الاحتياطية عن قواعد البيانات التشغيلية، وتخزينها في بيئات مستقلة، مع تشفير الملفات الحساسة للحد من مخاطر الوصول غير المصرح به في حال وقوع أي تسريب.
ويُعد مهرجان «تريبيكا» أحد أبرز المهرجانات السينمائية في الولايات المتحدة، إذ انطلق عام 2002 بهدف دعم المشهد الثقافي في جنوب مانهاتن عقب أحداث 11 سبتمبر، ويستضيف سنوياً مئات العروض السينمائية ويستقطب عشرات الآلاف من الزوار من مختلف أنحاء العالم.
Accessing Hollywood stars' data may seem like an impossible task, but a single security flaw was enough to expose sensitive information concerning some of the most famous names in the film industry, in an incident that raised widespread concerns about personal data protection even within the largest global events.
A cybersecurity researcher revealed a massive data leak related to the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City, which included contact information and technical data concerning several Hollywood stars and international directors, including Angelina Jolie, Robert De Niro, Rami Malek, and Sharon Stone.
The researcher explained that he found unsecured databases containing more than 666,000 files related to the festival. While most of them contained press data and schedules for film screenings, one backup file revealed thousands of email addresses and phone numbers belonging to several prominent figures.
The data included well-known names, such as Michael Douglas, Neil Patrick Harris, as well as directors Martin Scorsese, Danny Boyle, and George Lucas.
According to the available information, a large portion of the data belongs to agents and managers of the artists, but the researcher also confirmed the presence of personal email addresses, in addition to technical data for the devices used to log in, such as phone types, operating systems, and browsers, information that could help attackers carry out more precise attacks.
He warned that this data could be exploited in identity theft attacks by creating emails that appear trustworthy through a simple change in the sender's address, and then sending malicious files or links to celebrities or their close associates, noting that cyber attack methods have become more sophisticated in recent years.
He added that he informed the festival organizers of the security vulnerability days before the events began, pointing out that the response was swift, as the exposed databases were closed on the same day.
He also noted that he did not download any of the files, and there was no evidence of malicious entities accessing them, explaining that the sensitive data was stored in unlabelled backup files, which may have limited the chances of its discovery.
In conclusion, the researcher urged institutions to enhance cybersecurity measures by separating backups from operational databases and storing them in independent environments, while encrypting sensitive files to reduce the risks of unauthorized access in the event of any leak.
The Tribeca Film Festival is one of the most prominent film festivals in the United States, having launched in 2002 to support the cultural scene in Lower Manhattan following the events of September 11, and it hosts hundreds of film screenings annually, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from around the world.
