اندلع حريق غابات واسع في جنوب فرنسا، ما أجبر عشرات السكان على إخلاء منازلهم، في وقت واصلت فيه فرق الإطفاء جهودها للسيطرة على النيران التي أججتها الرياح القوية والجفاف.
وأفادت سلطات الطوارئ الفرنسية بأن مئات من رجال الإطفاء انتشروا لمكافحة الحريق في إقليمي إيرو وأود، بينما استعانت السلطات بطائرات إطفاء بسبب صعوبة الوصول إلى مناطق اندلاع النيران في التضاريس الوعرة.
وبحسب إدارة إقليم أود، أتت النيران حتى ساعات المساء على نحو 800 هكتار من الأراضي، فيما أوضحت السلطات أن الحريق تمت محاصرته في بعض المناطق، لكنه لم يوضع تحت السيطرة بشكل كامل.
وأسهمت درجات الحرارة التي بلغت نحو 30 درجة مئوية، إلى جانب الرياح القوية والجفاف الشديد للغطاء النباتي، في سرعة انتشار الحريق.
وأعلنت السلطات إجلاء عدد من السكان، فيما طلب من آخرين البقاء داخل منازلهم حفاظًا على سلامتهم، ليصل إجمالي المتضررين من هذه الإجراءات إلى نحو 200 شخص في بلدتي بوزول-مينرفوا وماياك.
وأفادت فرق الإطفاء باندلاع حريقين آخرين محدودي النطاق في منطقتي رونياك ولانسون بروفانس بالقرب من مدينة مرسيليا.
ويأتي اندلاع هذه الحرائق بعد عام من حرائق واسعة شهدتها منطقة كوربيير، في أعقاب موجة حر شديدة اجتاحت أجزاء واسعة من أوروبا، وسط توقعات باستمرار ارتفاع درجات الحرارة خلال الأيام القادمة.

French emergency authorities reported that hundreds of firefighters were deployed to combat the fire in the Hérault and Aude regions, while officials called in firefighting planes due to the difficulty of accessing the fire outbreak areas in the rugged terrain.
According to the Aude regional administration, the flames had consumed about 800 hectares of land by evening, while authorities clarified that the fire had been contained in some areas, but it was not fully under control.
Temperatures reaching around 30 degrees Celsius, along with strong winds and severe drought affecting the vegetation, contributed to the rapid spread of the fire.
Authorities announced the evacuation of several residents, while others were advised to stay inside their homes for their safety, bringing the total number of those affected by these measures to about 200 people in the towns of Pouzol-Minervois and Mayac.
Firefighting teams reported the outbreak of two other small fires in the regions of Rognac and Lançon-Provence near the city of Marseille.
This outbreak of fires comes a year after widespread fires occurred in the Corbières region, following a severe heatwave that swept across large parts of Europe, amid forecasts of continued rising temperatures in the coming days.
