وأوضح رئيس الجمعية الوطنية في فنزويلا خورخي رودريغيز اليوم أن أكثر من 11 ألف شخص أصيبوا في الكارثة، مشيرًا إلى أن فرق الطوارئ والدفاع المدني تواصل عمليات البحث والإنقاذ وسط الأنقاض في المناطق المنكوبة لتقديم الرعاية الطبية العاجلة وتأمين مراكز إيواء للمواطنين الذين فقدوا منازلهم.
وفي السياق، أعلنت الرئيسة الفنزويلية بالإنابة ديلسي رودريغيز الحداد سبعة أيام على الضحايا، وأفادت بيانات رسمية صادرة عن الحكومة الفنزويلية أن قرار الحداد يشمل تنكيس الأعلام فوق جميع المباني الحكومية، والمؤسسات العامة، والمقرات الدبلوماسية التابعة للبلاد في الخارج.
