وفي لحظة فارقة حبست أنفاس المسافرين، قفز راكب تبين أنه شرطي سابق بصحبة صديقه للسيطرة على الوضع الذي كاد يخرج عن السيطرة، ولم يكن أمامهما سوى المبادرة بحركة سريعة لشل حركة الراكب الهائج، وتثبيته تماماً في مقعده باستخدام «شريط لاصق» أحكم إغلاق يديه وقيّد جسده لمنعه من أي تصرف كارثي.
وظل المسافر مكبلاً بهذا الشكل الغريب وسط دهشة الجميع، حتى هبطت الطائرة اضطرارياً في مطار بالتيمور واشنطن، حيث اقتحمت الشرطة المقصورة واقتادت الراكب لتلقي العلاج من جرح أصيب به، قبل أن يُوجه له الاتهام المباشر بالاعتداء، ويدخل مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي (FBI) على الخط لبحث توجيه اتهامات فيدرالية ثقيلة تحرمه من السفر مجدداً.

In a pivotal moment that left passengers breathless, a passenger, who turned out to be a former police officer, jumped in with his friend to take control of the situation that was about to spiral out of control. They had no choice but to act swiftly to restrain the agitated passenger, completely securing him in his seat using "duct tape" that tightly bound his hands and restrained his body to prevent any catastrophic actions.
The passenger remained shackled in this strange manner amidst the astonishment of everyone, until the plane made an emergency landing at Baltimore Washington Airport, where police stormed the cabin and escorted the passenger to receive treatment for an injury he sustained, before he was directly charged with assault, and the FBI got involved to investigate the possibility of filing serious federal charges that would bar him from traveling again.
