لقي ما لا يقل عن 14 طفلاً مصرعهم، وأُصيب خمسة آخرون، إثر انهيار سقف مركز للدعم المدرسي في مدينة لاهور شرقي باكستان، بحسب ما أفادت به خدمة الإسعاف المحلية، أمس (الثلاثاء).
ووقع الحادث في منطقة باستي عيد غاه بحي كهنا ناو جنوب المدينة، ثاني أكبر مدن باكستان، وفق ما صرح به متحدث باسم خدمة الإسعاف الذي أوضح أن فرق الإنقاذ هرعت إلى الموقع فور تلقي البلاغ وتمكنت من انتشال الضحايا من تحت الأنقاض.
وأكد وزير الصحة المحلي حصيلة الضحايا لوسائل إعلام محلية، في وقت أعلنت الشرطة عبر منشور على منصة «إكس»، توقيف شخصين على ذمة التحقيق في الحادث.
من جانبه، أعرب رئيس الوزراء الباكستاني شهباز شريف عن حزنه العميق إزاء الحادث، واصفاً الضحايا بأنهم «أرواح ثمينة»، ومقدماً تعازيه لأسرهم.
At least 14 children have died, and five others were injured, following the collapse of a roof at a school support center in Lahore, eastern Pakistan, according to local ambulance services reported yesterday (Tuesday).
The incident occurred in the Basti Eid Gah area of the Khanna Nau neighborhood in the southern part of the city, Pakistan's second-largest city, as stated by a spokesperson for the ambulance service, who explained that rescue teams rushed to the site immediately after receiving the report and were able to retrieve the victims from under the rubble.
The local health minister confirmed the death toll to local media, while the police announced in a post on the "X" platform that two individuals had been detained for questioning regarding the incident.
For his part, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, describing the victims as "precious souls" and offering his condolences to their families.
