وأعلن رئيس الجمعية الوطنية الفنزويلية خورخي رودريغيز اليوم (الجمعة) وفاة 188 فنزويليًا جراء الزلزال وإصابة 1520 شخصًا آخرين، مبينًا أن 157 شخصًا ما زالوا في عداد المفقودين، وأن أكثر من 200 شخص ما زالوا محاصرين تحت أنقاض المباني المنهارة، فيما تواصل فرق الإنقاذ عمليات البحث والإنقاذ.
وشهدت فنزويلا سلسلتين من الهزات الأرضية القوية، بوقت متأخر من ليل الأربعاء، قُدرت الأولى منها، وفقًا للمسح الجيولوجي الأمريكي، بقوة 7.2 درجة، والثانية بقوة 7.5 درجة، تبعتها 30 هزة ارتدادية أخرى.

The President of the Venezuelan National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, announced today (Friday) the death of 188 Venezuelans due to the earthquake and the injury of 1,520 others, indicating that 157 people are still missing, and more than 200 people are still trapped under the rubble of collapsed buildings, while rescue teams continue their search and rescue operations.
Venezuela experienced two series of strong tremors late Wednesday night, with the first one estimated, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, at a magnitude of 7.2, and the second at a magnitude of 7.5, followed by 30 aftershocks.
