أسدلت محكمة أوسلو الجزئية، أمس (الإثنين)، الستار على واحدة من أكثر القضايا إثارة للجدل في النرويج، بالحكم سجناً لمدة أربع سنوات على ماريوس بورغ هويبي، نجل ولية العهد الأميرة ميت ماريت، إثر إدانته بتهم جنائية ثقيلة تصدرتها تهمتا اغتصاب واعتداءات جنسية، مع فرض أمر تقييدي بحقه لصالح إحدى الضحايا لمدة عامين.
وجاء النطق بالحكم في جلسة صباحية غاب عنها هويبي جسدياً ليكتفي بمتابعتها عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي، إثر جولة قانونية استمرت لستة أسابيع، وشهدت تجاذباً حاداً بين النيابة العامة التي طالبت بعقوبة مشددة تناهز السبع سنوات وسبعة أشهر، وهيئة الدفاع التي استماتت لتخفيف الحكم.
وكان نجل ولية العهد قد واجه في مستهل التحقيقات لائحة اتهامات فضفاضة تشمل التحرش، وتصوير الضحايا دون رضاهم، وانتهاك الأوامر التقييدية، فضلاً عن حيازة المخدرات؛ وهي التهم التي انتهت المحكمة إلى الإدانة في بعضها والتبرئة من أخرى.
وتأتي هذه الصدمة القضائية لتضاعف من محنة العائلة المالكة النرويجية، إذ يتزامن الحكم مع ظروف صحية حرجة تعيشها الأميرة ميت ماريت، عقب إعلان القصر الملكي أخيراً تدهور حالتها الصحية وإدراجها على قوائم انتظار زراعة الرئة جراء إصابتها بتليف رئوي مزمن.
The Oslo District Court closed the curtain yesterday (Monday) on one of the most controversial cases in Norway, sentencing Marius Borg Høiby, the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, to four years in prison after convicting him of serious criminal charges, topped by charges of rape and sexual assaults, along with a restraining order against him in favor of one of the victims for two years.
The verdict was announced in a morning session that Høiby physically missed, opting to follow it via video conferencing, after a legal battle that lasted six weeks and witnessed a sharp tug-of-war between the prosecution, which demanded a harsh sentence approaching seven years and seven months, and the defense team, which fought hard to mitigate the sentence.
The Crown Princess's son faced, at the beginning of the investigations, a list of vague charges including harassment, filming victims without their consent, violating restraining orders, as well as drug possession; charges that the court ended up convicting him on some and acquitting him on others.
This judicial shock further compounds the plight of the Norwegian royal family, as the ruling coincides with critical health circumstances for Princess Mette-Marit, following the royal palace's recent announcement of her deteriorating health condition and her placement on the waiting list for a lung transplant due to chronic pulmonary fibrosis.
