واليوم، وبعد أكثر من ثلاثة عقود، تعود أمريكا لتستقبل هدفاً سعودياً جديداً، هذه المرة عن طريق عبدالإله العمري الذي هزّ شباك الأوروغواي بهدف التقدم في الشوط الأول من مباراة المنتخبين في افتتاحية مبارياتهما بالمجموعة التي تضم إلى جانبهما منتخبي إسبانيا والرأس الأخضر.
